Jug's POV

Time passed really quickly. Henry and his mom had to go home which ended the little playdate with Maddie.

"Bye Henry!" Maddie waved as we started walking home. "Bye Maddie!" Henry waved back and they disappeared around the corner. The weather started to get colder so I helped Maddie wear her jacket.

"Did you have fun?" I asked and helped her arm go through one sleeve. "Yeah! Henry was fun and the other boy too. I don't know the other boy's name." I helped her other arm go through and I fixed it up "I'm glad you had fun." I picked her up "Now let's go home"

--------

I opened the front door to see Betty already there. "Mommyyy!" Maddie says and kicks her way out of my grasp and runs to Betty.

"Buggiee!" She says and picks her up for a hug. I walk over to her "Hello Love" I say and give her a kiss "You're home early."

"Yeah. Had nothing else to do so I figured I should just go home early!" Betty smiles and puts Maddie down. "I'm way too tired to cook so on the way home I got Chinese take-out!" She says in a sing-song voice as she shows the carton containers filled with noodles and what not.

Betty and I would order Chinese food long time ago when we were still in Riverdale High. I haven't had it in a long time.

"Ooh!" Maddie says holding onto the table, trying to see the things on the table.

"C'mon let's eat!" Betty says and we start.

We start unboxing the noodles and splitting apart our chopsticks. We eat the noodles and what not and-

"Bug, can you just use a fork?" Betty says and hands Maddie a fork (which she pushes away). She has no idea how to use chopsticks. She tries, no doubt, but she just cannot.

"No Mommy" She says and tries again. Betty sighs and gets her chopsticks and replaces it with a fork "Hey!"

"No, use a fork. You don't know how to use chopsticks properly yet." Betty explains. Maddie sighs and continues to eat with the fork instead.

"I forgot how good these were" I say as I put some more noodles in my mouth.

"Mhm" Betty says and nods "Yeah, me too!"

This was probably the best family bonding we've had in a long time.

--------

"Okay Bug! Time to sleep!" Betty says, plopping Maddie down on the bed. "No no Mommy!" Bug laughs and stands up on the bed "Not sleepy yet!" She says and jumps up and down.

"What do you mean? You were already dozing off a while ago!" I laugh and playfully push her down to the bed "C'mon, so we can have another full day tomorrow!"

This is probably the hardest part about having a toddler. Sleeping time. It just never goes to plan. But still, I love these moments. Just seeing Bug and Betty so happy and just playing around.

It took about another 30 minutes before Bug's energy got drained. Betty quickly placed her down on the bed and tucked her in. "See? You're sleepy!" Betty says softy, fixing Bug's hair.

"No...I'm...not" Bug replies, yawning. I chuckle as I'm watching the two girls on the bed. I haven't even had the time to dress for bed myself.

"Love you Mommy...even though you don't super love me" Maddie says and yawns again.

The aura on Betty's face just changes, so does mine.

"What do you mean Bug? I love you more than super!" Betty says

"But super love is when you play with me a lot. Like Daddy, he super loves me coz he plays with me" Maddie explains, her eyes slowly shutting.

Betty and I look at each other and sigh. "I'm sorry" I mouth to Betts and she just nods.

"Well...I super love you Buggie!" Betty says, watching her little girl's eyes escape to dreamland.

She sighs once more and stands up. I walk up to her and give her a little hug. I can tell how sad she got.

"It's alright Betts. She doesn't really know what love means. To her it's all playtime" I explain. "It's not that Jug" she says and looks up at me "I feel bad because it's true. If that is her definition of love then I'm failing at it! I don't have time for her and I know that! I just- I don't know what to do..."

"You're not failing at it Betts-"

"Don't comfort me like that. You know I'm right."

I couldn't lie to her but I didn't want to tell her how bad of a parent she was. The next thing I knew was that my clothes were getting soaked.

"Aw Betty..." I wrap my hand around her head as I pull her into a deeper hug. "I'm a terrible mom Jug" she says and softly sobs. "Hey" I hold her shoulders "Don't say that. You're not a terrible mom. Quit torturing yourself."

"Yes you may be busy. Yes you may not have enough time for her. But that doesn't mean you're not being a parent. The fact that you work so hard each day, wake up early, sleep late, is for her...right?"

Betty nods and leans on my chest again.

"I wish there were more hours in a day" Betty sobs out "I want to play with her...I just...don't have time" she says in a frustrated sigh.

"Maybe tomorrow? You could hang out tomorrow! I'll take over the register for the day. How about that?" I suggest, plastering a smile on my face.

Betty gives a smile and nods "I would love that. But are you sure you can handle the register?"

I scoff and laugh "Of course I can Betty! How hard can it be?"

"Okay then! I guess I'll be off of work tomorrow!"

Now Betty has a smile on her face. She's excited! The look on her face makes my day, or well, night.

"Have fun alright?" I say, raising an eyebrow. "We sure will!"

We then dress up for bed and go to sleep. Tomorrow is going to be-

I was going to say great until I heard a tight scream.

"Bug are you okay?" I hear Betty say, quickly sitting up to see a crying Bug.

Oohh cliffhanger haha!
