Chapter 8: Dick and Starfire

It's been two weeks since Dick and Starfire hooked up. And it's all because of me. A stupid mistake I made. That mistake was breaking up with Dick. Raven thought to herself.

She still felt extremely jealous of the both of them. She just wanted to be with Dick again, to have his lips on hers, to have his hands on her waist. She just wanted him to be with her again. Every night, she would have this dream of Dick getting married to Starfire. She kept worrying that it would happen. But there was nothing she could do. She didn't want to be known as a person who breaks up two people. She didn't want to be a person who spoiled another person's relationship.

She knew that it was her fault. She broke them up. She broke up with the perfect boy for her. All she did was to keep it to herself. She kept telling herself that she broke them up for a good cause. That was that she didn't want him to be with a demon for the rest of his life. He deserved better. Although that did make her feel better, it didn't help much.

2 hours later...

"That was fun! Shall we do it again soon, boyfriend Dick?" Starfire's voice made Raven realized that the 'dream couple' was back. Hearing the two words 'boyfriend Dick' made her cringe. In fact, it made everyone cringe. Even Dick. 

"Yeah. Let's do it again when we have the time." After replying to his now girlfriend, Starfire, he left to go and change back to his costume. Starfire followed suit. When Dick walked past Raven's room, he didn't have the urge to check on her. The bond told him that Raven couldn't bare seeing him with Starfire. Jealousy was an emotion Raven barely felt--in fact, she had never felt jealous of anyone before. It was all new to her. She felt bad for Dick. Not only was he hurt physically, but emotionally too. She wondered how he has not had a mental breakdown. 

"Dick, I need to-" Raven was walking over to Dick's room when she heard:

"Oh Dick. You have the softest of the lips! I forgot how they felt." 

Who is that? Is that....Starfire? Dick kissed Starfire? What the heck?

Raven's thoughts were all tinged with jealousy. All she could think of was on how she could take her revenge. She frowned. Her eyebrows crossed. Her fists tightened. She was jealous of her. She walked away, steam coming out of her ears, showing how mad she was. But she knew that she had to keep it in. She slammed her door. She decided to meditate to keep her feelings in check to make sure that there would be no outbreaks at all. 

"Azarath Metrion Zinthos..." Raven chanted as she started to levitate above her bed when a loud knock disturb her. 

Her door was slightly askew, only letting whoever knocked on her door see the left side of her face.

"So... I hear you're free for tonight..... Wanna hang out with me?" Beast Boy was trying to ask Raven out after seeing that she and Dick were broken up.

"No. I don't like you Beast Boy. You are never going to go out with me. Find someone else. Don't disturb me. I'm trying to meditate. Go away." After finishing her sentence, Raven slammed the door in his face, showing a clear sign of rejection.

Whimpering, Beast Boy dragged his feet back to the common room where Cyborg was, play9ing their favorite game, 'Jet Fighters'. 

"There is an option for two, you know." Cyborg tried to cheer Beast Boy up. He saw his face, full of rejection.

"Ok...alright. Thanks man. Now, hand me that controller!" Beast Boy commanded happily.

"See, you're in a good mood again." Cyborg chuckled. The two boys started their game.

"Starfire, I thought I was in love with Raven. But that was clearly a misread. It was you all along." Dick felt like he was in a love story. He slowly moved his hands down to her waist, tugging her in. Her arms immediately went to his neck and hugged it. It all felt extremely natural. Their faces began to tilt to different sides, much like the many times Dick had kissed Raven. Their tongues were searching for each other, ready to get entangled. Then finally, their lips met. They kissed for 30 seconds before Dick pulled away. 

"I-I can't do this, Star. You remind me of Raven. And I don't think that our relationship will work if I have her on my mind every time we kiss. So, I think it would be better if we just keep our relationship a casual one until I work things out. Is that ok?" Dick knew he was asking for a lot and did not expect a 'yes' for an answer.

"That is the ok, boyfriend Dick. We shall have the casual relationship until you can work the things out." Starfire ended her sentence with a smile before she walked off, going to her room. 

Dick was wondering what he had done wrong. He was pondering if he had just made Starfire upset. He wondered why he kept ruining all his relationships. 

"Dick. There is a crime alert." Raven pounded on Dick's door, trying to look as if she didn't love him at all.

"Thanks for the heads up." Dick thanked Raven as he exited his room, still limping. 

"Do you need support?"

"No, I'm alright. Thanks." Dick rejected Raven's offer to help him. He would immediately regret that when he fell down later on. He had trip over himself and landed with a heavy thud.

"Do you want support now?" Raven asked cheekily. 

"Yeah, ok. Sorry for rejecting help. I'm just trying to be independent. Thanks." 

At this moment, Starfire was going round the corner when she saw that Raven was helping Dick get up.

"What are you doing, Raven?" Starfire questioned, being a classic clingy girlfriend. She didn't even say the word 'friend' like she always would when speaking to any of the Titans. She shot a death glare at Raven. 

"I-I was just helping him. He fell down. C'mon Star." Raven was frustrated with Starfire. They looked as if they were going to start to fight each other. 

"Yeah Starfire. I fell down. Raven is just helping me get back on my feet." Dick told Starfire. He thought that this would calm her down but it made it worse.

"Why couldn't you have called for me? Why did you call for her?" Starfire was fuming with rage. 

Before they knew it, they started to power up. Dick saw what was happening and trusted his instinct. He dove in front of both the rays. When the two girls realized, they stopped. Dick fell heavily to the floor, smoke coming out of him. A sizzling sound was heard in the dead silence that followed. Both the girls had their hands covering their mouths. 

The thing they saw next shook them to the very core.
