Chapter 12: Going Back To Jump City

4 days later...

"Dick, do you want to see your surprise? Come, follow me." Bruce could barely hold it in anymore. His costume was done and it looked pretty good.

As they walked down the stairs to go to the Batcave where the suit was being placed on a mannequin, ready for Dick to try it out.

"Here it is, your costume. Isn't it nice? The team spent 4 whole days making the suit for you. We hope you like it." Bruce pointed his hand towards the costume.

Dick's eyes widened.

The costume's color base was black, the area at his chest had a blue arrow pointing downwards, it also was on the shoulder pads. There was a line that led all the way to his hands. There were two batons, both that had blue on both ends. There was also a blue bird on the chest.

"They can be extended, up to 1.5 meters long. They conducted electricity through your suit. We all hope you like it." Bruce smiled.

Dick slowly walked up to the grand costume.

"Thanks. I really appreciate all the work you've done. I think I have a name for myself." Dick looked at Bruce.

"And what is that?"

"Nightwing."

*chuckles* "Sounds sweet."

"Yeah... the name Robin gave me an idea. It's the name of a bird and I wanted to keep that base. Like the theme of the name. So I came up with Nightwing. Like night time, I'll be dark... ready to take down my enemies and like a the wings of a bird, I'll be swift." Dick explained the name 'Nightwing' to Bruce. It seemed like Bruce couldn't understand how he came up with such a random name. 

"Anyway, you want to try it on? If it is too loose or too tight we can still amend it before you wash it." Bruce smiled at the teenager. 

Dick though for a moment before he nodded. 

"Yeah, hand it to me. Let's see if you can still get my measurements." Dick chuckled.

He took the costume off the mannequin and put it on. The costume was so slick and easy to put on. It was made of a stronger material than his Robin suit. The eye mask was still the same, except it had two pointy ends on the top. 

"Thank you very much, Bruce. This was the best thing you could ever done for me. Thanks. But now, my team needs me. I need to head back to Jump City. Thanks for everything, Bruce." Dick looked at Bruce in his eyes and hugged him tightly. Although he didn't like what he did to him as a child, he was still extremely grateful to him for taking him in. 

"Any time you need to run away, or if you need a place to crash if something bad happens, hopefully not, you could always come back here. There's always a place for you." Bruce reassured that the Wayne Manor was always a place that Dick could call home. He smiled at him, Dick really couldn't thank him enough. 

"Alright then, I'll go and pack my stuff and head back to Jump City. But once again, thanks for everything. Bye." Dick walked away, still in his Nightwing costume.

"Uh, Dick, are you sure that you want to wear this before washing it? It was just for you to try on. But if you like it so much, you can wear it back. But I must warn you, it just came straight from the lab so it might itch." Bruce chuckled. He saw Dick turn around and walk over to the dressing room with his Robin suit in hand.
