Sirius aka the "Dog Star" is known to be the brightest star because of it's position in the
Canis major constellation

Sirius's name comes from the Greek word Σείριος Seirios meaning "glowing" or "scorching"


Fun Fact: Sirius although white and blue could be called a rainbow star because it often flickers with many colors.
