He opened his mouth and bit down on the squirming cricket. He felt the tickle of the frantic legs on his tongue. Only the head, he could hear her saying. It was repulsive. His stomach was doing somersaults.
This was the thirteenth one. Only one more to go. He chewed fast, but the crunching never stopped. Each one he swallowed, the legs scratched, clawed, twitched all the way down his throat.
The crickets were the last assignment. The easiest.
The visions began the next night. He needed to touch someone's closed eyes.
Then he saw exactly how they would die.
