I stared up at Oscar, waiting on his response. He didn't say anything. He just looked at me like he wanted to say something. Then he finally just moved past me and walked into my house. "Uh, excuse you?" He walked in and started looking around the house. He walked into my room and then my mom's room. Then he walked back up into the living room. I stood there with my arms crossed. "Find what the fuck you're looking for?"
He looked at me. "Who were you expecting to be on the other end of the phone earlier?"
I rolled my eyes and huffed. "Oscar that's really none of your business." "It's not?" I shook my head fast. "No, it's not." He stood there for a moment and just looked at me. Then he started walking towards me. As he walked forward, I backed up. Eventually he backed me into the wall next to my front door. He placed both of his hands on the wall, on both sides of my head. "Who was it Riella?" I swallowed nervously. "None. of. your. business." I said with an attitude.
He glared at me and I could literally see his face turning red. He punched the wall behind me and put an indention into it from his fist. "Damn it Riella! Why do you do this?!"
I jumped when he punched the wall and felt my eyes starting to tear up. I hated when Oscar got like this. I looked at him and clenched my jaw. "Get out." His face softened once he saw the tears falling from my eyes. "Riella.." "No! Get out Oscar!"
I moved away from him and opened up the door. He walked up to me. "Riella, can you just talk to me. Please?" I turned away from him. I wiped the tears from my eyes. I didn't want to cry, but I couldn't hold it in. I cared about Oscar so much. But some things just can't be forgiven or overlooked. And I refused to have him continue to try to control my life. He stopped right at the door and looked at me. I tried to avoid his gaze for as long as I could. Finally I looked up at him. I would be lying if I said that I didn't want him to just pick me up and kiss me right now.
"Can you just go Oscar?" I said sadly. He sighed and stood there for another moment but he eventually left. I watched him walk back across the street before I shut the door.
I walked back into my room and sat on the bed. In seconds my eyes filled with tears and I couldn't hold it in any more. I put my head in my hands and just cried. How did things change so much so quickly? I don't like this. I don't like not knowing that he and Cesar are okay. I don't like not knowing if they had enough groceries in the house. I don't like that Oscar is selling cocaine.
I finally wiped my face and walked into my bathroom to fix my hair.
My phone vibrated and I looked at it. It was Angel. "Hello?" "Hey, you home?" "Yeah, I left the door unlocked, you can just come in." "Okay."
I hung up the phone and walked into the living room. Angel walked in shortly after. He had on some dickies, chucks, a white tee and a black bomber jacket. He took off the jacket and his beanie. I just walked up to him and hugged him tightly. He hugged me back and kissed the top of my head. "You okay?" I nodded. We stood there for a moment. Not saying anything, just holding each other.
Then I looked up at him. He looked at me and smiled. "You're so beautiful Riella." I blushed and stood up on my tiptoes. I pressed my lips onto his gently and he leaned into it as soon as I did. I just wanted to forget about Oscar, even if it was only for a little while. I pushed myself into Angel some more. He lifted me up and walked over to the couch. He sat down and pulled me down onto his lap. We kept kissing as his hands grabbed my waist. I stopped and pulled away from him. "Angel, I really like you." He nodded, "I really like you too." I leaned back down and started kissing him again.
Then he stopped and pulled back. "We're gonna have to tell Oscar."
I bit the inside of my lip and looked down. But he grabbed my chin slightly and turned me to look back at him. "Riella. Did you hear me?"
I nodded. "Yeah." I sighed, "That's not going to be easy Angel."
We sat there for a moment and then Angel's phone started ringing. He pulled it out and looked at it. "Hold on, this is Sad Eyes." He touched the phone to answer it. "Hello? Whoa, whoa, whoa, wait what?! Okay, I'm on my way!"
He hung up the phone and looked at me. "I have to go. I'll be back, you should wait here." I shook my head. "What happened?" He took a deep breath. "One of the Santos got shot."
My eyes opened up wide. "Who? Who was it?" Angel wouldn't answer me. We both stood up and he put his jacket and his beanie back on. I grabbed his arm. "Angel, please. Who was it? Who got shot?"
"Spooky."
My heart dropped and so did my face. I grabbed onto the back of the couch. I couldn't catch my breath. I had just seen him earlier. And now he's been shot.
Angel grabbed onto me. "Riella, are you okay?" I shook my head. "I have to go." He frowned, "No, just stay here." I snatched away from him and frowned. "Angel you just told me that Oscar got shot! I have to go over there!"
Angel started to get upset. "For what?! He obviously doesn't want you there. He obviously doesn't care about you." I glared at him and frowned up. "That doesn't fucking matter pendejo!" I put on my sweater and opened my front door. Oscar's car was parked in the middle of his front yard and the front door to his car was still open. I ran as fast as my little legs would carry me. I ran into his yard and through the front door. Oscar was laying on his living room table. Tony and Santi were there pacing back and forth as their nurse was working on stitching up Oscar. As soon as Tony saw me he ran up to me. "Riella. He's been asking for you." I looked over at the table. "He has?" He nodded.
Angel walked inside shortly after I did. "What happened?" Santi shook his head. "Some fucking Prophet tried to prove himself." Angel got mad. "Where's he at now?" Santi sucked his teeth. "Dead."
I walked over to Oscar and grabbed his hand. He looked up and when he saw it was me he held onto my hand tighter. "Riella. You came." "Of course I came. Are you okay?" He nodded slightly. "I will be. Sky said the bullet went straight through. Luckily it didn't pierce anything."
I nodded my head and looked over at the nurse, Sky, who was stitching up the bullet wound on his side.
Oscar squeezed my hand and I looked back at him. "Riella, I'm sorry." I nodded, "I know. It's okay. Don't worry about that now. Okay?" He shook his head, "No, when it happened...Um." He winced from the pain and adjusted himself some. "When it happened all I could think about was you and our fight. I'm sorry muñeca. I'm sorry. I don't want to fight anymore."
"Okay." I nodded. "Then we're not fighting anymore."
I looked over at Angel. I know he wouldn't be happy but, I needed to be here for Oscar now.
