What is a weed?

How do you change a law

When something so close to you suffers

When you hold several lives in your hands

You weed them or weed all the others

The village says you're worth more

Their faces, and your mouth, seem sour

But you wonder if it's a question of worth

Or simply a question of power

Their white lovely lies

Your watercress lives

You've never had to think about more

But now you know less

And a great moral test

Threateningly knocks on your door

Sloven spells spread stilling space

How quickly has everything changed

Your gentle weeds unfurl their leaves

And yet somehow, everything's the same
