HELIUM BALLOON

an alley of red brick houses;
the sky is obnoxiously blue
and my legs feel unstable.
i look up.

the sky has infinite dimensions
my eyes soar out of the universe

i see a glinting-
from behind a tall house
a crumpled object peeks out
copper wrapping, a scrunched up quality street wrapper

crinkly in the light breeze,
it's ascending

steadily, a constant speed.
it seems balanced with the sky, the reflecting pink-hazel shadows and the purple tainted blue are dreamlike as my eyes follow the ascension:

which continues up and up and up and out into the atmosphere and out

then suddenly i realise

how small my peripheral really is
