Several weeks had passed and peace was a regular emotion among the villagers, who sat around a group fire as if they were all one big family.

Cerelia could get used to this. The happier they seemed to get, the more she patiently awaited something to come along and ruin it. It always happened, anywhere she went. It was coming soon, and both her and Mando knew it.

It worried her every second of every day that had passed since the battle. The unease followed her around everywhere she went, making it hard to sleep at night and hard to settle down during the day. Her happiness turned to dread before she had time enough to enjoy the peace.

Five years had passed since she had lost her home, and she was still terrified of losing anything that could substitute for a home.

The village began to feel more like a battleground than a home.

That's what it would turn out to be if they stayed much longer. She could feel it. She wasn't sure if it was the Force pulling her away, but the constant distress she felt was unavoidable.

"Why do you wrap up your hair?" Winta had innocently asked one night around the campfire. Omera immediately scolded her daughter for asking such a personal question, but Cerelia insisted it was okay.
