Dear Diary,

Today is Ella's second birthday! Papa just left to get a cake from a bakery in Reighlanburrow. Akane-nii is helping mama with chores and I have been in my room trying to figure out what to do. I wish I could give Ella everything she wants, but we don't have the money. But at least I got her a gift. That is all that matters! I am hoping that today is the best day. There isn't anything else worth updating about at the moment, but the year is going great so far!

I smile ecstatically as I set the quill down on the ink container. Ever since mama and papa taught me how to write I began writing down things in this diary! You never know when you want to look back on your life, or if the information might even be useful! I blew the page a couple of times before closing it, making sure the ink didn't smear. I learned that the hard way last time.

Setting the diary aside I picked up Midnight and the handcrafted charm that was claimed to be a protection charm. I hugged the plush tightly while tears formed in the corner of my eyes. "Midnight you have been my best fwiend all my life..." I murmured between my silent sobs. "But now it is time fow you to have a new fwiend... Be the best for her."

I had no idea I'd have such a strong emotional response to giving away my best friend to my little sister. I wiped the tears from my eyes and calmed myself down. I walked over to Ella who was still sleeping and pat her head. "Hey sissy, wake up!"

Ella grumbled, opening her right eye as she looked at me. Upon seeing me she opened her other eye and smiled. Ella wasn't a morning person and quite frankly, everyone knew, well everyone as in family. I picked her up and cuddled her in my arms, spinning around a few times. "How are you dowing on this fine day biwthday gal!" I asked with a warm smile.

Ella giggled and threw her hands up in the air. "I jus woke uh... but I fweel gweat!" She responded and put her hands on my head. I giggled happily and twirled again before setting Ella down. Ella clung onto me, trying to climb up my arm to sit on my shoulders. I boosted her up and held onto her legs, her arms hanging on my head.

(Abelardo's POV)

I made my way out from the forest to the village Reighlanburrow with a satchel hanging over my shoulder. I let out a long sigh while moving some hair out of my face. It was pretty early in the morning and I wasn't fully awake.

"I just need to buy a cake and get home." I groaned, putting my hands down to my side. It wouldn't take long to finish this task, but people weren't especially fond of demons.

I walked past the thick forestry before finding one of the paths into the village. "Aha!" I exclaimed. I walked down the path and entered the village. Walking down the paths, I arrived at the bakery. The sweet scent of confections emitted from the open windows.
