Spring break arrived, and our parents decided we needed a break from recent events. Dad arranged coverage of the sheriff's office, and our parents took us to Universal Studios in Florida. I will admit it would be nice to have some warmth for once.
We left early to drive to Metro airport since we had to be there two hours before boarding. After checking in and boarding the plane, we found our seats.
"I thought spring break consisted of us traveling to fun in the sun without our parents?" Damon asked us.
"Did you think our parents would allow us to go to party central, knowing all the shit that can happen? Plus, they're cops," Luka reminded Damon.
Damon looked at Luka, annoyed, then sat down in his seat. I chuckled softly. Luka shook his head.
"Hey, Luka, did you tell Malia what you're doing after graduation?" Niko asked, earning a look from Luka.
That piqued my curiosity.
"Not yet, but thanks for asking," Luka answered through gritted teeth.
"I don't think becoming a cop is a bad thing," Niko announced.
Luka facepalmed himself.
"Niko, you have a big mouth! That's a secret! Well, we know you will never be a serial killer since you can't keep a damn secret!" Abby yelled.
Everyone looked at Abby.
"What? It's the truth," Abby said, shrugging.
"Abs?" Charlie said, getting Abby's attention.
"Yeah, Dad," Abby answered.
"Please be quiet," Charlie said. She shrugged.
I looked at Luka as he sighed, then looked at me.
"I planned on telling you about my decision but wanted to wait until graduation," Luka told me.
I looked at Luka, smiling. He turned slightly and looked at me.
"Okay, you don't seem upset about this. Why?" Luka asked me.
"Because I told my parents the same thing," I replied casually.
"Say what?" Luka questioned with surprise.
"Well, I'm a curious person and take after my dad, so it makes sense that I want to follow his footsteps," I reasoned.
Luka looked at me and smiled. I smiled back.
"What made you decide to be a cop?" I asked.
"I got to thinking about everything that happened. My dad worked his ass off, trying to make a difference, and I want to do the same," Luka answered.
"Your reason has nothing to do with your mom, does it?" I asked curiously.
"No, it doesn't. I thought about things and realized that I didn't know my mom. I saw one person when that person had two different sides. My dad was there for me," Luka explained.
I looked at Luka. I knew what this information about his mom affected him. When you learn your parent is infallible and not the person you knew, it changes you.
"Well, it looks like we take more after our dads than our moms," I said, grinning. Luka chuckled as the plane took off into the air. I had a feeling spring break would be a lot of fun for us.
We landed at Orlando Airport and got off the plane. After making our way to the baggage claim, we grabbed our luggage and took the shuttle to the hotel. Abby and I bunked together, while Luka bunked with Niko, and Damon bunked with Simon. I had a feeling Damon had words for Simon.
