Within Me (Hunter X Hunter x Reader)

First Phase

The first phase of the exam has started, it wasn't as hard as you thought it would be. The examiner just told everyone to follow him and right now you've been running for 30 minutes.

''Maybe becoming a hunter isn't that hard after all..'' You thought to yourself not until the examiner started take up his pace. You started running a little bit faster than before,and some of the applicants was already giving up. You felt bad for them but you kept on going.

A few minutes later you were approached by a silver haired boy riding a skateboard. You thought he was cheating at first but then you realized the examiner didn't really specify any rules. ''Ah I should've brought a bike!'' You thought to yourself.

''Hey, how did you know that the orange juice was poisoned??'' The boy started talking. There wasn't anyone around you so you assumed he was talking to you. But  you were rather confused at what he was talking about.

''Orange juice...?'' You closed your eyes trying to remember ''Ah! That orange juice! W-WAIT IT WAS POISONED?!'' You gasped.

The silver haired boy looked at you weirdly. ''You even threw it at his face.'' He said letting out a laugh as if you did something great.

''I DID?!'' You asked in confusion. 

The boy was about to say something when suddenly a tall man with glasses approached him saying he was cheating. He was with the two other applicants who arrived lastly at the site.

You wanted to defend the silver haired boy but the boy wearing a green jacket beat you into it. He was the same guy who you thought was the same age as you are.

You nodded in agreement as you listen to their arguments. There was also this blonde boy who was with them. 

They started having introductions and you were eager to get know them. ''I'm 12!'' You said answering the question of the silver haired boy. You found out they were the same age as you are and it made you even more excited.

The silver haired boy hummed. ''I'm Killua.'' He said as he coolly got off his skate board.

''That's so cool! I'm Gon!'' They both introduced themselves and looked at your direction afterwards.

''My name is y/n!'' You said enthusiastically. 

''That one is Leorio'' Gon pointed at the guy who is wearing glasses, ''Leorio'' looked liked he was struggling to keep up. You waved at him and he just sloppily waved back ''And that one is Kurapika!'' He continued on introducing his friends. Kurapika just smiled at you and you nodded and smiled back. Killua didn't really care and just let out a silent ''Ehh''.

You felt worried at how ''Leorio'' seemed to be slowing down so you slowed down your pace and approached him. On your peripheral vision you saw Gon and Killua stopped as well.

''Do you need any help? I can carry your briefcase for you!'' You offered nicely.

Panting, Leorio looked at you, he started blushing. He felt embarassed that he looked so lame in front of a girl, and a pretty one to add.

He stopped running to catch his breath and you stopped as well. 

''Screw that...'' He whispered to himself ''I'm gonna become a hunter!!'' He said dashing off on his own. You were shocked at his actions but it made you feel even more motivated. 

Gon took the briefcase using his fishingrod. ''Let's go y/n!'' He called out, and you started running back to them. 

You probably ran 80 kilometers now and you still can't see the end of the tunnel, you were getting a little tired but you were determined to pass the exam. 

The examiner took up his pace once again and everyone started running with all their might, the fact that you were running on stairs made it even more exhausting.

You started breathing heavily and your vision became a little blurry.

''Y/N are you okay??'' Gon asked as he slowed down his pace to match yours.

Killua just looked at the both of you.

Looking down you ignored Gon's concern. ''Damn it.'' You whispered but loud enough for Gon and Killua to hear.

Gon looked confused. ''Huh?'' He asked.

''You're in the way.'' You said as you take up your pace leaving the two boys behind. ''Why the heck is everyone running?''

Both boys looked confused at your actions but they just ignored it for now.

You proceed on running by yourself when a half naked guy with glasses approached you. It was Leorio.

''T-Thank you for earlier.'' He said as a small blush appeared on his face.

You looked at him with disbelief, you can't believe another perverted middle aged man is hitting on you, and this one is half naked. ''I can't believe this...'' You frustratingly sighed. ''Look, I'm not interested on old guys okay? Get lost.'' 

Leorio felt like an arrow was shot at him, it was mean enough to say that you weren't interested even though he wasn't really hitting on you, but being called an ''old guy'' was rather more insulting for him.

''I'M NOT OLD! I'M A TEENAGER JUST LIKE YOU GUYS!!'' Leorio said defending himself.

Gon and Killua heard what Leorio said and even Kurapika was shocked as well. 

You let out a small gasp ''No way! you're definitely old.'' 

Killua laughed at your remark and approached you, ''Hey! Something is weird about you'' He said.

You raised an eyebrow at him.

Gon joined the conversation and observed you. ''She does feel a little different.'' 

You never had a normal conversation with anyone. Most of the time you'd wake up at a very dangerous or weird situations. You started to think you existed just to get hurt. You hated everyone at the town you grew up on so whenever you'd wake up you always take your time to get back at the people who hurted you.

But this time you are at a weird place with people you never knew, you didn't had a reason to be angry at them, but you don't want to let your guard down either. You accepted that something was wrong with you since you were 7 years old, you thought that you had this kind of sickness where your memories disappear, because ever since 5 years old all you can remember was bad memories.

You just assumed that you must've known them but you didn't want to get too attached or you'll end up getting close to them again. But it was also a good thing that they were talking to you atleast they could update you on what was happening.

''Why are we running?'' You asked out of the blue.

Both of them looked at each other. 

''Did she forgot??'' Gon asked killua through his eyes.

Killua could understand what Gon was trying to say and just shrugged his shoulder. ''Hell if I know.''

A sweat dropped on Gon's face but he decided not to think too much about it. ''This is the first phase of the Hunter Exam!''

Your eyes widen in shock. ''HUNTER EXAM?!?!'' You asked yourself in disbelief. ''What was I thinking?!'' 

You suddenly remembered that fat guy who approached you earlier, he must've given you that bad orange juice so that he can get rid of some applicants, good thing you didn't drink it.

Clearing your throat you pointed at Gon 

''What's your name?''
