Only a week had passed an Pepper was leaving again. "I'm sorry, Tony. But my sister's sick she needs me."
"Not at all, you have fun. You sure you don't want me to come too?" He sincerely hopped she didn't.
"And have you and John try to kill each other the whole time? No thank you." She smiled teasingly.
"Okay. You got a car to the airport down there. You all good?" he handed her her suit case.
"Wonderful," she answered, pressing the button on the elevator. "See you in a few days." The doors closed.
"Jarvis," Tony called into the house as soon as she was gone.
"Yes, sir?"
"Is there scotch at the bar?"
"Plenty, sir."
"Fabulous," he sat on the couch.
Almost immediately his phone chimed. He grabbed it from the side table and unlocked the screen.
There was a picture. The tiny screen showed Steve, from the shoulders up, sitting in a bathtub, smiling his incredible smile. The caption said simply, "I hear Pepper's out of town."
