sorry the texting format does not work on all reading platforms!

I had around two weeks off on paid leave. I spent the first night getting ready to meet with David to give him my witness report. He had texted me the night after Glen's murder.

Hey, It's Detective David Loki.
Just wondering if you were free tomorrow so we could fill in your witness report?
7:34 pm- David

Hi David. Tomorrow works for me!
Where and when do you want to meet?
                                                                                                                                                      8:12 pm- Sabrina

Does the coffee shop on 33rd work? Let's say 9:45 am?
8:20 pm- David

Yes, sounds good. I'll see you then
                                                  8:31 pm- Sabrina

After we had made plans, I snuggled with Dylan as we watched his favorite movie, the Iron Giant. Jam was curled on my back while Dylan was the little spoon. About halfway through, I heard his soft snores. I felt like the luckiest mom in the world.

The next morning, I woke up late. I rolled over on the couch and saw it was 9:20 in the morning. I rolled over again, snuggling back in with Dylan until the realization hit me.

SHIT

I yanked myself out of Dylan's small grasp and practically somersaulted off the couch. I threw open my bedroom door and prayed I remembered to wash my nice sweater. I saw it danging off my dresser and thanked the father, son, and whatever the rest of the saying is. I whipped on my clothes at lightning speed before making a mad dash to the bathroom.

I brushed my hair and brushed my teeth at the same time. Something I always thought was impossible, until that very moment. I grabbed my bag and put on a heavier jacket. I wrapped Dylan in a blanket and picked him up.

"Jam c' mere doggy!" I whistled for the dog to follow me. "I swear if you don't come over here right now you little-" Dylan began to wake up in my arms. The dog trotted over to me.

"Mommy?" His voice was groggy.

"Hey baby, you're going to Mrs.MacDuff for a little bit. Mommy has to help Mr.Loki, I mean David, with somethings. I'll be right back, I promise." I said, pushing our dog gently over to Mrs.MacDuff's apartment with my foot.

"Ok, mommy. Tell mister David I say hi," Dylan said and closed his eyes again. I smiled, David would love to hear that. I knocked on the door, hoping they wouldn't have gone out to brunch. Thankfully, the door swung open. It was Mrs.MacDuff, holding a steaming cup of coffee. Her eyes widened happily, and a smile formed on her face.

"Good morning Sabrina! And good morning to you too Dylan!" She patted his tired head.

"Good morning! Look, I'm so sorry this is so last minute, but can you watch both of them for two hours at the most? I'll make it up to you somehow!" I was nearly pleading.

"Of course! No worries, my husband and I were about to watch the cartoons! It would be wonderful if Dylan watched them with us!" Mrs.MacDuff opened her door wider. Jam waltzed in happily.
