I know every story I have ever been to. Some have awful memories clinging to them like snow after a rain storm. Others feel light and gentle.
I know every genre. I have favorite moments, favorite stories.
My name is Aubrey Fitzgerald and I am the girl of stories.
"Aubrey, another story is coming soon," Chloe says. She only has a voice. This blank world that I rest in every time is where the real character goes every time while they wait.
I have never seen a mirror. I don't know what I actually look like, though I know what the characters I have to be like look like. I know my age is young because all the characters I have still go to school.
"What's the name of this one?" I ask and sigh.
"This story is from 1872 and your character's name is Mary," she replies.
I know that she's trying especially hard for me not to realize who I am outside of this place, I don't think there would be a point of it.
I know my real name isn't Aubrey Fitzgerald. I don't even know why I'm not allowed to know my real name, but I think it's my right to know who I am.
Blue mist swirls around me.
