Nini POV
The next morning I was up and out of bed before the sun even rose. Ricky remained dead asleep as I showered so I slipped downstairs and sat at the kitchen table with tea and my song book. I barely felt the time go by but as a very tired Ricky stumbles down the steps, I look up to realize it's 8. "Hey there baby" he greets me with a yawn and I smile. "Hey there sleepyhead how are you?" He laughs and walks over to me, his arms coming around my neck as he leans down behind me. He kisses the top of my head and sighs into me. "Well rested" he says with a chuckle. "Can I get you anything for breakfast?" I think for a second and then say "yes! I'm gonna make some eggs." He looks confused. "No babe, I'll make them, but didn't they make you nauseous just a few mornings ago?" I laugh and realize that they did. "No morning sickness today. I could get used to this, but we know it won't last so EGGS." He smiles and brushes his messy curls back. "ALRIGHT" he says matching my aggression and I giggle as I walk out of the kitchen.
Hours pass quickly and Ricky and I are getting ready to leave for my appointment. Nerves course through me for some unknown reason and I can't find my phone. I'm tearing the bedroom apart when Ricky walks in. "Woah woah." Ricky says, dodging a flying pillow and coming over to stop me from my frantic behavior. His hands grab both of mine and he looks into my eyes. "What's going on Nini" he asks. I huff dramatically and tell him I can't find my phone. A smile spreads over his face and he bites his lip. "Yeah that's because it's downstairs connected to the house speaker." I groan in annoyance and glare at him. He bursts into laughter. "Okay okay we'll clean all of this up later, we'll be late if we don't head now." Ricky tells me, pulling me out of the room. I think to myself that this will be a long nine months but Ricky's just smiling like an idiot as we head to the doctor's.
When we get to the doctor's office, Ricky grasps my hand as we sit in the waiting room. His leg is bouncing up and down and I place my other hand on it. The bouncing stops immediately and he turns to look at me with a soft expression on his face. "Everything's going to be fine" I say to him and he smiles, leaning in to kiss my cheek. "You know I know that babe. It's just.." I finish his sentence with a smile. "A lot" i say quietly. He smiles back and nods, his hand squeezing mine. "Nina Bowen" a woman calls and my heart starts to pound again. "Ready?" Ricky asks me, standing up. I nod confidently, taking his hand and following the woman in to a room. "I'm just going to get a few things situated before the doctor comes in, sounds good hon?" The woman asks me. I nod quickly and she directs her attention to Ricky. "Go ahead and have a seat young man, and Nina? Go ahead and sit up on the examination table." I nod and Ricky takes a seat, way too far from me in my opinion. After I answer some of the woman's questions, she tells me that the doctor will be in shortly and Ricky stands up back up, coming over to me. He lays his hand on my stomach and leans down to press his forehead against mine. "You ready to see our little one?" My hand comes over to meet his on my stomach. "I've been nervous since this morning. I don't know why." I say. He chuckles and pulls back. "So that explains the pillow tossing." I laugh and we kiss briefly, pulling back just in time for the doctor to enter. "Nina Bowen? I'm Dr. Ross. Pleasure to meet you." I greet him back and he closes the door, pulling out a file and moving over to the examination table. "And you're the father?" He directs to Ricky. Ricky stutters for a second as if he couldn't believe that he was going to be a dad, and then he nods and grips my hand a bit tighter. I can't help but smile at his nerves too. "Great, well we're just going to do a basic ultra sound to see how far along you are, and then we'll get you set with some prenatal supplements." He moves over to a machine. "Great, thank you!" I say and Dr. Ross asks me to lift my shirt. "It's going to be really cold." He warns me as he brings a sort of gel to my stomach. I laugh and nod but I squeeze Ricky's hand tighter when I feel how cold the gel really is. "Okay you were not lying." I say with laughter and the doctor smiles. He moves a monitor over my stomach and Ricky's thumb moves over my hand in a calming way. "Alright, okay!" The doctor says. "It looks like you're about 7 weeks along. And that is your baby." He says turning the monitor to me and Ricky. My hand flies up to my mouth as I look at the tiny bean on the screen. I look at Ricky to see that he has teared up and he brings an arm around my shoulders. "Would you two like a moment?" The doctor asks and Ricky and I nod. He excuses himself and Ricky tucks his face in my neck. I rub the back of neck calmingly but I myself am about to break down from emotion. Ricky pulls back. "Nins that's our baby. You're growing our baby." He says and I let my tears fall. "It's already adorable. It's our little bean." I say, laughing through my tears. "Thank you for bringing this into my life." He says through tears and I pull him in to kiss him.
