Hurricanes And Butterflies...Oh my!

By: Frank Roder

"Hurricanes and Butterflies," is the heartfelt story of Klaus Fitz-Wang and the fateful spring break trip that changed his life. Although visually stimulating thanks to the works of upcoming director Kan T., the plot comes up short. Written by Mr. Fitz-Wang himself, the story is clearly one sided and lacks the flair of the other five teens involved points of view. Not to discredit the trauma Fitz-Wang has endured, but audiences would much rather hear about the psycho lesbian lovers, suicidal artist, drug dealer turned philanthropist, or the jaded football star over the kid who felt bullied because of his "silly" name. It didn't help that Fitz-Wang felt the need to play the role of himself. To be frank, it was an awkward performance.  Now in his early thirties, Fitz-Wang is no longer the strapping young lad he used to be. I truly hope this wild story gets retold with a better cast and plot because the world deserves to hear and see this wacky tale. I think Mr. Fitz-Wang should've stuck to his book deal. This film gets two and half claps out of five.
