"The only request I have is so vague, but some sort of first date ice skating" newsiesforever04. Well, I hope you enjoy this cute little one shot! Song- Butterfly's Repose by Zabawa

"I can dance on Broadway but I can't even make it 2 feet on figure skates, why did I agree to this again," you questioned your friend, Erika, as she watched you struggling to curl your hair. She just chuckled, shaking her head as she took the curling iron from you.

"Y/n, sweetheart, I love you but I do not have the answer to that question. You get all golden retrievery around Ben. I'm just glad you didn't hold out another week otherwise Kyle would've won the pool between us," Erika said as the seamless curls fell one by one from the curling iron.

You were appalled. "A pool?!? How dare you, I'm hurt." You crossed your arms, sticking your bottoms lip out like a pouting toddler. "I mean I know everyone on the crew was trying to make this happen but still, you made a pool with your boyfriend?" But Erika just chuckled, spraying some hairspray as she fluffed the curls.

"Sweetheart, it was truly nothing, it was just who would have to make dinner for the next two weeks, which is now Kyle so thank you," a smile brightly spread across her face as she kissed you on the forehead. "Besides, Ben has swooned over you since the third week of rehearsal and has not stopped gushing to Kyle, so it's about time something happened. I just don't know why you let him talk you into an ice skating date." You could hear your closet rummaging among your thoughts as Erika began pulling out possible outfits.

After letting your mind wander for a few moments you finally brought the daydreams of those blue eyes onto your own eyes, beginning your makeup. Looking at the outfits Erika was selecting you deciding upon a light nude and peachy eye look with a pop of highlight on the inner corner. Nice and simple, like you were hoping this date would be.

"Erikaaaaaa, These are all so stiff and heavy," you whined at the assortment of sweaters. All you received in response was a huff. "Pass me those ripped jeans, the white tee, and the denim jacket."  Erika did as she was told and you moved your way behind the folding screen in your bedroom. Hanging your pajamas on top of it, Erika grabbed them and put them in the dirty hamper for you. "Thank youuuuu, I love you."

You could practically hear the smirk on Erika's lips but she didn't have enough time to respond as you stepped out from behind the screen, black ripped skinny jeans, a loose white tee, and a blue jean jacket. The outfit was almost perfect but it was missing something. But what?  That's when Erika put a tan beanie on top of your head. "There dummy, I love you too," Erika said as you both stood looking at your reflection, her jokingly wiping a tear away. "They just grow up so-".

Before she could even finish the sentence there was a knock on the door and your heart did 8 million somersaults in a matter of seconds.  "I'll get the door, you get yourself together," a gentle hand being placed on your shoulder as Erika left the room. A few deep breaths later and you were making your way to your living room, where you heard Ben's melodic laugh. And Kyle's. Of course, those two got ready together.

As you entered the living room you could feel Ben's eyes on you, engulfing you and taking you in. "Y/n, hey." His voice was stiff, but not uncomfortable just a nervous stiffness. You made Ben nervous.

That brought a smile to your face as you hugged him in greeting, waving to Kyle. "I think we are going to get out of here and let you two have the apartment," you said to your roommate as she and Kyle sprawled on the couch.

"You know us too well, stay safe you two. And Hey mister!" Erika said in a fake deep fatherly voice, "Home by 10:30." You rolled your eyes at her, but you knew it was all out of love.

Ben was dressed in a similar outfit and you couldn't help but started as you walked down to the ice rink. As your conversation danced around everything, his fingertips danced around yours, before he finally, confidently, reached for your hand. And the butterflies returned.

"Fair warning Benjamin, I am nowhere near what could be considered 'good' at ice skating," you half-joked, a chuckle coming out of him.

"Well then let me be your guide."

After sitting in line and just enjoying each other's company Ben was down on one knee before you... tying your skates. Your fingers had fumbled miserably with the laces trying to get them tight enough. But you couldn't. Ben was swift with though, standing you up and moving to the ice. Holding your hand the entire way. You fumbled against the wall as he glid next to you as if the ice was second nature. "You've got this Bambi," he said a bright smile on his face, quickly replaced by a shock expression as you fell, right on your ass. And boy did it hurt. "Oh my gosh are you okay, do you need to get off, or maybe some ice, we can-"

"Ben I'm fine, really," You said chuckling as you dusted off your legs, "but I could use a hand up." As he took your hands in his you pulled him down as well, causing both of you to be covered in snow and chuckling against the wall of the pretty deserted rink. "That's for calling me Bambi," you said, pushing his head playfully as he watched your face, a smile against the bright red of his cheeks. And it felt as if it was you two against the world. Soon his soft lips pressed against yours, enveloping your body in warmth to contrast against the cool surrounding you in the ice rink.

Eventually, you both made your way up off the ice, and out of the rink. Walking home was definitely a funny feeling after being in skates, but Ben's hand in yours was the most natural feeling in the world. There was a quaint little bakery that you stopped by about 3/4 the way home grabbing cocoa to combat against the harsh wind that brought a red tinge to your nose.

"You know, I've liked you since the 3rd week of rehearsal. And your laugh, the way it lights up the room... I'm really thankful you said yes to tonight. And I'm really hoping there's a yes to a future night, maybe not ice skating this time," Ben said with a chuckle.

"I would enjoy that very much," a smile making your cheeks hurt. It was almost comical how much you had been smiling and laughing tonight. "Goodnight Benjamin," you whispered, your lips brushing against his cheek. Before you could open the door you felt yourself being spun around and gentle lips being pressed to your forehead.

  "Goodnight Y/n."

I really hope you all enjoyed this because I really really enjoyed writing it. I'm thinking the next one might be set in high school. Let me know your thoughts. Much love!
