My mom pushed me into the house not even trying to be gentle. "If you ever pull a stunt like that again I might just have to kill you." My mom said as fire lit in her eyes.
"Too bad I'll be eighteen soon." I said as I sat on the white couch.
"You aren't leaving this house. And if you do I'll kill you just like you killed your brother." My mom sat on the white chair that was about five feet away from me.
"I didn't kill my brother, it's not my fault you got pregnant." I said rolling my eyes.
"I should've just got rid of you and never told Jacob." My mom said as she began to form a fist.
"Why didn't you, were you scared the public would find out and realize our perfect little family isn't perfect. News flash nobody's perfect." I said slouching into the couch.
"Because I thought maybe there would be hope you weren't a screw up. The one time I didn't make the right decision." She said lighting a cigarette.
"Seriously what have I done to this family that classified me as a screw up, I did good in school and always got perfect grades, I never really left the house, while all my friends partied I stayed home, while everyone started dating I didn't because that's not what you wanted! It's not my fault you've been abusing me since I was born!" I yelled.
"I haven't been abusing you since you were born so you better shut up before I make you!" She yelled. "And now you are dating a greaser so that practically is a screw up right there."
"I'm sorry you've been neglecting me since I was born the abusing didn't start till I was thirteen." I said rolling my eyes. "And for information I'm not screwing up by dating a greaser my family life is practically the same as theres so the only difference is money."
"You should know that you never marry for love only for money." My mom said putting out her cigarette.
"Not everyone is like you! And I'm sorry dad ever met you because he deserved so much more." I said.
"If it wasn't for your stupid father you wouldn't be born." My mom said getting up and walking away leaving me alone in the living room.
I figured this was my chance to leave. I got up from the couch and as I glanced back to make sure my mom wasn't following I seen not one but two guns lying around the house. She probably has one on her too. If I were to take one she would notice. And that's when I glance down and seen one gun hiding in a basket she would never notice if it was gone. I don't want to have to shoot my mom but if it comes down to it. I turned the safety on and decided to walk up to my room to see what I had left that I could change into.
I put on a blue tank top and checkered shorts, then I threw on a heavy denim jacket so I could easily hide the gun. (Picture above). I walked back downstairs and my mom looked confused. "Thought you moved everything to your boyfriends." She said.
"I didn't actually because I didn't have enough room and I definitely wasn't coming back. But look where I am now, and now I'm thankful that it's here." I said rolling my eyes walking back to the couch.
"I thought maybe you ran away and I'd have to come find you." My mom said.
"I should've." I said trying to hide the gun in my jacket.
"I'm going to read the paper you behave." She said pulling out the paper. It's been a few hours and it's almost midnight I'm almost legally eighteen and I can my mom is getting tired. I tried not to make any noises to startle her awake. I got up and dimmed the lights because her eyes were already starting to shut. If she would've taken this more seriously she should've drank coffee or something, I mean I'm not complaining.
And then the time changes it's a new day. And I'm eighteen. I seen Dally through the window and I put my finger up to show I'm coming. I know exactly where the wood will make no noise to the loudest noise and I tip toe around the floor. I quietly open the door and shut the door then I run into his arms. "Get me out of here." I whisper. He takes my hand and begins to run with me to his place. The thing is my mom found out where Darry lives but she never figured out where lived.
We were far enough from my house that Dally finally felt safe to say anything. "I'm sorry you had to go through all of that let's just get you home." He said when we began to approach his place. We went through the main rooms and up to his room.
He let me put on one of his baggy shirts and lay down. "Goodnight Dally." I said as I laid down but he didn't. "Wait why aren't you going to bed?" I asked.
"I slept earlier to prepare for this I decided to stay up to make sure no one hurts you." He said as he kissed the top of my head. "Now get some rest."
