(Y/N)'s POV:

"I'll see you tomorrow then" I smile at Shota as he enwraps me in a hug.

"I'll text you the time" He replies kissing my forehead before we part ways.

I walk down the lonely street, living nearby to the school has its advantages. I look up at the dark sky at the scattered stars shining bright, while dodging the lamppost on the path which are placed perfectly for someone to walk into if they weren't concentrating, which was exactly what did now; I come in contact to the lamppost, hitting my head slightly and making me slightly stumble on my feet backwards.

"Ow," I say out loud, luckily nobody was around to laugh at my display of what I could call extremely graceful. Rain starts to spit slightly from the clouds in the night sky, making me speed up before I get drenched as I didn't have an umbrella, yet unfortunately for me the rain started to pour down quicker and heavier. I quickly reach my home after running, struggling to unlock the door but doing it with ease after turning the key the other way, I now find myself leaning against the door out of exhaustion of today's events.

"OMG HUNNY ARE YOU OKAY" I hear out of nowhere making my scream and jump in fear. "CALL DOWN JESUS GIRL"

"MUM?" I yell out of fear "WHY ARE YOU IN MY HOUSE? HOW DID YOU EVEN GET IN?"

"I come all the way here for you to ask why I'm in your house, wow love you too" She frowns.

"I love you too mum, I'm just confused" I respond as she smiles again.

"Well I was going to come and help recovery girl but my flight was delayed and I found your spare key under your doormat, you need to hide that better by the way" She explains.

"Oh okay then, well you can use my bed and I'll sleep on the couch"

"Yes, as expected" She replies.

"Oh, I thought you would have denied it as you felt bad but nevermind" I laugh "Always going against the cliche mum" I smile at her. My phone vibrates, a text from Shota appears.

Shota💤:

Hey, come at 7 pm?

Kitten:

Sure I'll see you then! :)

"Who're you texting" my mum asks tearing my eyes away from the screen before putting it into my pocket.

"A co-worker" I respond hoping she leaves the subject alone.

"Is it the one from before when I last called?" She asks making me look away blushing "oh it is, what a handsome man he is, has he proposed yet?" She continues to ask making me choke on my own spit.

"Mum we aren't even dating"

"I'll take him if you don't" she laughs.

"If you really have to know, I have a date with him at his house tonight"

"Oh I must help you get ready dear, it's been years since I've done this for you"

"Don't remind me" I facepalm.

She runs upstairs almost immediately dragging me behind her to my wardrobe. "You must have something good in here" she starts searching through "why don't you have any dresses in here?"

"I don't go out to fancy places a lot" I reply.

"Oh wait, this is perfect" she pulls out a short red dress, one I didn't even know I have "go put this on" she says pushing me into the en-suite so I could get changed.

After I'm changed I look at myself in the mirror and cringe; the dress goes only a quarter down my thigh, and hugs everything almost too tight for comfort.

"Come on then, show me" my mother yells from the other side of the door.

"I don't want to wear this" I say unlocking the door and showing myself to my mother who had a look of surprise on her face.

"You look perfect" she smiles.

"You don't think it's too much?" I ask nervously.

"Absolutely not, now sit down and I'll do your hair while you do your makeup, because as you know I'm not good at that" she laughs reminding me of primary school, when she used to help me do my hair in the morning.

"How's dad?" I ask her to keep the conversation going.

"Oh you know how your father is, always complaining" she laughs "though it has gotten worse, and the chemo doesn't seem to be working" her happier mood dulls.

"He's strong mum, he can get through it don't worry" I say wiping away the tears which started to trickle down her face.

"Sorry I'm ruining the happy moment, I just wish things weren't the way they were" she says using the straightener on my hair.

"It's okay mum, don't worry I'll come and visit soon" I smile at her my simple makeup finished, as I only used mascara and some lipgloss.

A knock is heard from the door as soon as my mum finishes doing my hair.

"I'll go get it" my mum says while I look around for my bag and phone. Gathering these items, I slip on some small black heels I have and make my way down stairs. As soon as both my mother and Shota are in sight I smile seeing my mother smile back and Shota look almost in shock at me.

"You two have fun...not too much fun, but you know what I mean" my mother laughs before pushing us out of the door "remember what I said young man" was the last thing she says before slamming the door on us.

Shota takes my hand and leads me to his car, still speechless from earlier; he holds the door open as I get in the car before going around to get in the drivers seat and start the car to drive to his.

"You look breathtaking" he says breaking the silence.

"Thanks" I smile at him "I see you've dressed up aswell" I look at his outfit, a black pair of dress trousers and a white button down with the top button undone, his hair tied back in a bun, which suited him well.

This is going to be fun.
