The day I met you
My heart stopped
My lungs gasped for air
And my skin burned with a blush hotter than the sun
I never believed in love at first sight
But when I saw you
I knew I wanted to be with you
I wanted to be the one you called your girl
Your ride or die
Your everything.
I wanted to be the reason that when you smiled
It was so bright
It would put the twinkling stars to shame
On a dark, clear night out in the country.
We slowly started to become friends
Talking every day
Sometimes about nothing
Sometimes about something
It was these small conversations
That made me fall for you even deeper
I took the risk
And I asked you out
And my world felt brighter
When you said yes
Our love was passionate
It was powerful
It was everything
But then
Something changed
You no longer looked at me with love in your eyes
You no longer gave me that tender look that sent shivers down my spine
It was if you would look at me
But not see me
And then you left
And my world shattered
My heart was demolished
Destroyed to the point of no return
The day you left was the first time you looked at me in months
And there was no love
No empathy in your stare
It was cold
It was hard
It was full of pity
And it was then I decided to let you go.
Months later I see you in the store
Your face was glowing with happiness
Your stance was filled with so much confidence and a calmness
And your eyes shone with a love I never saw before
But it wasn't pointed towards me
It was at that moment I understood
You never did truly love me
You loved me, but not in the way I loved you
