All throughout my performance, the green-eyed girl and I have made eye contact. And damn..her eyes.

"Umm, this last song is called..uh, Trip by Ella Mai," I say shly, as I start strumming the intro and sing the first verse.

I put my feelings on safety so I don't go shootin' where your heart be
'Cause you take the bullet try to save me
Then i'm left to deal with making you bleed

I smile a little bit at my guitar and let my eyes wander around the room, as I start singing the pre chorus:
And that's a whole lot of love
Ain't trying to waste it
Like we be running a mile and never make it
There's just too bitter for words don't wanna taste it
There's just too bitter for words, don't wanna face it.

Chorus:

But I think I'm done trippin, I'm trip, trippin
I've been sippin', that's how I control
This feelin', you keep givin', you keep on hittin' it, ooh
So maybe it's your love, it's too good to be true
Baby boy, your love got me trippin' on you
You know your love is big enough make me trip up on you
Yeah, it's big enough got me trippin' on you, trip, trippin' on you

Post-Chorus:
My bad, my bad for trippin on you
My bad, my bad for trippin on you

I close my eyes, as I sing the second verse, thinking about my past.

You know we're cool, but now I'm waiting
Oh, I act a fool when I don't get it
And i'm steady bruising just to save this
But I tripped on your love
I sing," Now I'm addicted," as I raise my eyebrows.
I continue to sing the three choruses and see the girl's face and see sadness.
I guess she caught on the heartbreak.
Bridge:
That's some kind of love, baby (drip, drip)
That's the kind of love, make me (trip, trip, trippin' on you)
It's big enough make me (drip, drip)
It's big enough got me (trip, trip, trippin' on you)

I smile at my guitar and then my eyes fall back on the green-eyed girl, as I sing the last chorus:

I think I'm done trippin, I'm trip, trippin
I've been sippin', that's how I control
This feelin', you keep givin', you keep on hittin' it, ooh
So maybe it's your love, it's too good to be true
Girl, your love got me trippin' on you
You know your love is big enough make me trip up on you
Yeah, it's big enough got me trippin' on you, trip, trippin' on you

I finish the song with improvising the post chorus, and finish strumming the outro. I face the audience," Thank you"

Applause fill the room, as I awkwardly walk offstage with my guitar around my shoulder.

I caught glimpse of the green-eyed girl again, as I walk to the back table where my family was.

"You did so good, honey," my dad tells me.

"Thank you," I say.

"Maybe try not to be so awkward tho," Dylan says, I scoff.

"Well we can leave whenever you're ready. We'll be downstairs getting coffee," my mom says.

"But I'm waiting in the car," Dylan says, as they go to front.

"She was better off without the guitar," I can hear my mom tell my dad.

"The guitar just messes up her singing," my dad adds.

Of course, they say that.. Again.

"Don't listen to them," I hear a voice behind me say. I turn around to see the green-eyed girl, and she continues to say, "I thought you were amazing"
