Customizing Moonbutt

I used to do a lot of My Little Pony customs back in the day.

In retrospect, I wish I had kept a few of those ponies the same cause I literally have no normal ponies of the Mane Six

I have three versions of Twilight, Rainbow Powered, the one with the weird joints that can move, and unicorn Twilight (highly rare nowadays; I got her in a Secret Santa). No normal Alicorn Twilight.

Rainbow Dash: I have a pearly Rainbow Dash, and I once customized a normal one.

Rarity: I have the Rarity that has the water and confetti in her. Aka, clear, not white. I've customized several normal Rarity's.

Applejack: Literally, my Applejack is one from a McDonald's Happy Meal. I've customized two normal Applejacks.

Fluttershy: I have Power Ponies Fluttershy. She came in a set that I needed for a small alicorn (Power Ponies Twilight). I've customized a regular Fluttershy.

Pinkie Pie: Never owned, nor customized a Pinkie.

As far as ponies that AREN'T customs, I have a McDonald's Starlight Glimmer, two random background ponies, my Scootaloo and Shining Armor are blind box ponies, I have Cadence from the Crystal Empire set, as well as the Flurry Heart that came with it (once I get more paint, Flurry's getting a repaint cause she's clear pink and some of her hair isn't painted in the first place).

(All playsets I got ponies from I gave away to have more room in my... Room).

And, of course, Princess Luna.

The Princess Luna that I have is the light up one:

They didn't even have the audacity to provide her with a crown like every other Luna figure.

Anyways, Luna is one of my all time favorite characters in MLP. I even have her Build-a-Bear version.

The thing that bothered me the most about this figure how Hasbro colored her.

Clear (duh, she's light up, but even then, she lights up red), light purple, and her mane and tail colors are way off. But there wasn't much I could do back then cause I wasn't as skilled. I just shrugged it off.

Until now.

I made her a crown years ago using a crown from this creepy ass Happy Meal toy of a princess doll (I got rid of it a long time ago) and painted it black. That was the extent of my fixing back then.

Today, I finally decided to use some quarantine time constructively and made my beloved Moonbutt accurate to the show:

Anyways, I have very few process pictures, but here's my start: taping the mane and tail to avoid too much paint getting on them:

Now, I mixed together some black and blue, painted it, realized it was too dark, then put a couple layers of the blue over top. Four paint layers in total. I painted around the eyes because I didn't wanna redo them. Mostly cause I don't have white paint.

Anyways, I painted her, gave her her necklace and shoes, and let her be till after dinner.

THEN I used sharpies and Mr. Sketch scented markers to color her mane the right colors (I really do not reccomend using Mr. Sketch cause the marker stains your fingers and work surface like a son of a bitch. Unfortunately, my blue sharpie wasn't working so...) Blue middle, purple on the outside. I looped some of the blue around her horn, put her crown back on to hold it in place, then voila!

Btw, I said I have no white, and that's true. I drew on the moons with silver sharpie.

I really hope I can get some of the normal Mane Six with the original molds. I've gotten all mine for customs in Target checkout lines. I refuse to buy the new ones cause they're creepy in my opinion lol 😂.

I'd also like to get Celestia cause she's the only princess I'm missing, but not right at the moment.

Sunbutt and I... Let's say I'm not really on speaking terms with her at the moment...
