Skylar's POV.

As I came back to consciousness, I pushed myself forward into control. Siqiniq seemed to be frustrated and mad, but not at me or anyone else—at herself. I decided to leave her be, I don't want to push and get her mad at me.

My eyes scanned the area. I am in a jail of sorts with a door at both ends of the hallway. Metal bars from the ground to the ceiling trapped me. I got up and pushed at them, but my skin burned on contact. "Silver," I hissed to myself. They must have made all of the cell's bars in that metal. I shook my hands, trying to relieve them of the pain.

My cage walls on my right and left were shared with other cages. There were other werewolves in the other cages. And across from my cage were more cages on the other side of the room holding wolves. Those must be wolves from Tarkik's pack.

The other werewolves were from my training group. I saw Jake two cages down from me. "Jake!" I cried out.

Jake turned to me, surprised. "You're ok! We thought you were wounded or something. You didn't wake up for a while," he whispered, "try to keep your voice down, they come in here and zap us if they hear us."

I frowned and asked quietly, "they? Where are we?"

"Scientists, I think. We're somewhere on the Raw Power Pack's territory," he replied.

I gasped, "we're going to be experimented on."

Jake nodded, "they already started too. Vanessa, who's in the first cage, collapsed after they injected her with something and started twitching. She died not too long ago."

"She what...?" I couldn't believe someone could be so heartless. "Why are they doing this? What do they want?" What could possibly be the reason for this? This is completely insane. I always knew this Alpha wanted to make himself stronger through unnatural things—that's why they have so many scientists here.

"The Alpha," Jake spoke in disgust, "he wants to be as strong as them—no—stronger than them." He pointed at the wolves across from us.

I looked at the wolves. I can't imagine how Tarkik feels. I know an alpha can feel every soul in their pack and whether they are in good health or not. He could feel these wolves being experimented on. One of the wolves was missing a back leg. Another one had part of its tail missing. And I noticed the wolf across from me was bleeding from its mouth. Did they take its teeth? Using a good amount of mental strength, I pulled my gaze away from the wolves.

Suddenly, the door to my left opened and in walked five werewolves all wearing lab coats. Two of them opened Vanessa's cage and carried her body out of the room. The other three approach a wolf's cage. The wolf was laying on the ground covered in its own blood. "Ace! Ace get up and fight!" The wolf in the next cage barked.

The scientists went over to the wolf and stuck a needle in its neck before leaving the cage quickly. The wolf started shaking and white foam came out of its mouth. Its body stopped and laid motionless after the seizure was over.

I felt the need to throw up. "Oh my god," I said to myself as the other wolves whimpered and pleaded for Ace to wake up. What did they do to the wolf? Why would they even think about doing something so horrific. The scientists pulled the wolf's body out of the room after a few minutes.

Quickly after the wolf's death, I felt pain and guilt from my mate. He felt one of his pack members die and he thought it was his fault. If only I could communicate with him. A whimper sounded from my throat before I could stop it. One of the wolves looked at me in anger, "what are you whining about? That is not your pack mate that just died!"
