Free as a Bird

It had been a week since the gang arrived in London. Theseus was reinstated as an Auror, Newt was back home (his creature-reunion was too adorable to miss, with Pickett refusing to leave his side and clinging onto his collar and following him everywhere he went).  Tina applied to be an Auror. She, Queenie and Jacob found an apartment close to Newt's.

Queenie seemed a little peaky and hence, she was set to go to St. Mungo's the following day. She had been nauseous since the trip and she was advised plenty of rest and a fluid diet until she could go to the hospital. 

Jacob was looking for possible sites for his bakery. He decided to apply a loan from the bank to buy the area. He had to hire a whole new crew. He placed an advertisement in the newspaper so that he could hire professional chefs and helpers.

Albus went back to Hogwarts and left Credence with Newt in his apartment. Credence often helped Newt with his creatures and was an excellent chef from all those months of cooking breakfast and mid-morning snacks.

"Are you okay, Queenie?" Tina asked, "I just got back from Newt's. Went to say hi to the Occamies".

"Yeah, just nauseous and I feel horrible" Queenie said, "Does seasickness last this long?"

"I don't know. You probably have food poisoning or something" Tina said, "Don't worry, Queenie, we'll know if we go to St.Mungo's this afternoon. Want some chamomile tea?"

"Nah, I'm okay" Queenie declined, "I just feel tired all the time and I don't know why. My stomach is kind of aching".

"You need some medicine?"

"It's okay, Teen" Queenie said, "I just feel . . . never mind. It's fine. You've done enough and I know I haven't been the best sister".

"It's fine, Queenie. You matter to me the most. I sure hope these mood swings pass by soon" Tina smiled weakly, "I'll stay here with you until it's time, okay?"

"Sure. Thanks Teen".

Theseus was rushing in for his first day back at work. He ran across corridors to meet Hector Fawley in his new office. He arrived to see two desks and two chairs. There was a mug of tea on the desks and a thick stack of papers lay on one of them.

"Minister" Theseus bowed awkwardly.

"Scamander. Good to see you back again" Fawley offered him a smile of gratitude.

"So this is my office? Pretty cool" Theseus inhaled the scent of old papers and parchment and it made him feel like he was at home.

"Not so fast, Scamander" Fawley said, "It's not just your office. Another person will be joining us very soon. Her name is Anna Fernsby".

There was a knock at the door. Anna Fernsby had arrived. She had bright red hair and she had an abomination of freckles lined up on the bridge of her nose. She wore a white shirt and a pair of professional pants. She also had a jacket, tucked in her arm.

"Hello Minister" she greeted.

"Miss Fernsby, very pleased to meet you again" Fawley smiled,  "Say hello to your new partner. We have Mr Theseus Scamander here and he was with us a long time ago. Now he's back again".

"Pleasure" Anna shook his hand. Theseus smiled and returned the handshake.

"Okay, we have new cases. Your assignments are in those files there. Please get to it as soon as possible. Good day" Fawley nodded at the both of them and left. 

"So, you're a Scamander?" Anna asked, "That's cool".

"Oh, yes" Theseus became quite flustered.

"Your brother is Newt, right? The famous author?" Anna's eyes lightened up, "That's so amazing! It must be great to have a famous brother! Do you accompany him on book tours? Have you ever been inside his suitcase? Could you introduce me to him? I'm his biggest fan!"
