"Oh yeah, I can feel it."
'...
Hey! I'm currently procrastinating from writing another oneshot and updating my stories!!
#proudbutnotproud
So, since I wanna write, but don't wanna write, I thought I'd write about how I write! (Try saying that 5 times fast, am I right? XD)
I'll make it 2-3 parts long. The first is "How I Pre-Write", which is this one, and the second will be "How I Write", and the third will be...I don't know. Any ideas?
Keep in mind, these are steps to how I write. I'm not telling you to follow them or anything; this is really just me procrastinating and trying to give you guys some content.

1. Make a mess on my bed.
Bet you didn't expect that!
For some reason I can only think when I have organized chaos around me. Like, my bed has to have blankets and pillows thrown higglety-pigglety all over it. It's weird, but it works for me!
2. Kidnap a cat.
No! I don't actually kidnap a cat!
I just steal mine or my sister's cat from the other side of the house, bring him/her to the corner of my bed, and place them on my fluffy pink blanket in a patch of sunshine. Most of the time, one of them will lay on my arm while I'm typing, so I have to be extra careful to not move my hands so much.
It's kinda a ritual for us. XD
Cats are also good for relieving tension, for me. For instance, when feeling stressed about writing whatever, I just give the cat a kiss on their fluffy head and POOF! All better! ( I swear that cats are magic! We do not deserve them!)
3. Get in comfy clothes.
Normally a sweatshirt and old jeans do the trick. But PJ's and baggy T-shirts paired with leggings are amazing, too!
4. Take off shoes and contacts.
I'm weird and I have these two rituals for when I wanna physically work, and when I mentally work. And they are the opposite of each other.
So, when I want to work physically, (ex: get chores done), I only feel productive when I have my shoes on and have my contacts in.
And when I want to write or need to do homework, I feel mentally productive when I have my Harry Potter socks on and my glasses on my face.
5. PUT HAIR UP!!
Putting my hair in a high ponytail or a messy bun is always refreshing. I often do it whenever I feel stressed and need to take a breather, or when taking a test, or when I need to get work done, or in this case, when I need to open up my 'Creative Writing Outlets' and breathe in new ideas.
6. Have a drink nearby.
I don't know what it is about writing and doing schoolwork, but I find myself constantly needing to drink something. Maybe my brain is running a marathon or something and needs to stay hydrated. I don't know.
But I always have a cup somewhere near me.
My choice beverage is always either Dr. Pepper (#1) or a Vanilla Coke (#2). But, in efforts to be more healthy, water will do the trick.
7. Put on the 'Writer Sweater'
You know how people have a metaphorical "(Insert word here) Cap/Hat"? Like, 'this is my "Mom Cap" but right now, I have on my "Politician Cap"' Do you see what I mean?
Well, I don't like hats/caps. They mess up my hair.
So, I have a "Writer Sweater."
And it's not a metaphorical sweater. It's real. I stole it from my mom's closet.
(Sorry mom! You know the loose brown one that's really soft and long? Yeah, I have it. But I'll give it right back! I promise! Love you!)
8. Retrieve Laptop
Duh.
(I place it on the end of my bed, where my feet normally go when I'm sleeping.)
9. Lay on Stomach.
I'm a weirdo and don't write at a desk. Even if I had a desk, I'd still write on my bed. It's a lot comfier.
10. Wave feet in the air like a Maniac.
As I've established; I'm a weird person. I also have ADD, which is probably why I'm so weird.
A side-effect of having ADD is that I get fidgety and have a short attention span. So, I often feel the need to move, but I'm not an active person, so I move my limbs while remaining otherwise immobile. It actually helps me think.
For instance, during tests, I'll swing my feet, or stretch my back, or move my hands really fast to let out bursts of energy.
So, when writing, I literally bend my knee and swing one or both feet in the air like a crazy person.

So, there you have it!
There's the first part that's done! Yay! I actually wrote something!
You know what? That was actually fun!
Now, I challenge everyone who read this to make their own "How I Pre-Write" post! And be sure to tag me or let me know that you did it! I want to see!
And let me know if you try any of my crazy methods out? They might even work for you, too!
(Now, if you'll excuse me, I have to go...do something...because I just drank a can of Dr. Pepper while writing this....)
Have a nice day!
