(That's Jen)
"Would you like to explain to be how the fuck you ended up in here?"
Jen is never one to mince words, so I'm in for having a new asshole punched into me.
"Thanks for bailing me out." I say looking down
"Yeah you owe me $1,000. Now again, how'd you end up in here dumbass?" Jen asked, obviously irritated with me.
"Lucy's asshole boyfriend and I kinda got into a fight."
"Are you joking? Are you guys fucking five? Why'd you get into a fight with him?"
"He overreacted. Lucy was walking away from me when I wasn't done talking to her so I grabbed her arm to hold her back and he ripped me off of her. Ended up hurting her more than if he had just let tell me herself to let her go, and I would've. He was on some bullshit saying "you cauhnt touch heh anymoh" and pushed me away. I was tired of him speaking for her instead of just letting us discuss this between us like adults, like grown people and he just couldn't butt the fuck out."
"So you threw the first punch. This is first grade all over again.." she says putting her head in her hand
"Can I tell you the rest in the car, please?" I ask, embarrassed enough as it is
"Yeah, let's go."

In the car she turns it on, and the radio in silence. Putting the windows down she prompts
"...Well?"
"I did throw the first punch. But you weren't there Jenny, you didn't see his pompous fuckin smirk. You didn't see him practically rubbing the fact that he has them in my face, or asking me the worst questions. You'd hate him too if you knew him." I say defensively
"He has them, bro they're people.  Lucy wasn't taken by him, she's choosing to be with him and raise her daughter along side him.  You're acting like you wanna rescue them or something." She snaps, backing out of the parking lot and onto the road
  "Where we going?" I ask
"My house, so you can explain your fuckery after Lainey's poured me a drink..."

*******

"Here babe.  Wy, are you sure you just want water?" Lainey offers sweetly while giving Jen her drink
As I'm about to respond, Jen answers for me.
"He's sure hon, really.  The last thing he needs is to drink right now."
"Urgh, Jen I meant like Lemonade or tea or coffee or something." She says leaning on the back of Jen's chair
"No Lain, thanks.  I'm good." I chuckle
"So," Jen asks after taking a sip "tell me exactly what happened.  And if you can, also tell me why you are the way that you are."

"Urgh, so I'm waiting outside Lucy's place to see if maybe I could catch her and Rosie heading somewhere and I did but I also caught the asshole I was telling you about, and he starts doing the whole fake politeness thing that you know I hate.  So I pretend to follow along only I'm very openly rude."

"Great.." she says quickly with a tight smile

"Anyway it escalates and Lucy basically tells me to go away, I get pissed, we throw hands and so my whole plan to talk to her in person went to shit and I barely got a peek at Rosie."

   "She's such a cute kid."

"You've seen her?"

"Of course dude, I'm her aunt.  Lucy's sent me a bunch of pictures."

"And she's just totally cool with you?" I ask outraged

"Well yeah, I'm not the one who screwed her over."

"How long have you been getting pictures from her?"

"Pretty much since she was born.  Lucy keeps really thorough records."

"And you haven't shown me, why???"

"Well for a while you seemed blissfully uninterested in both Rosie and Lucy and then after everything went down between you two she made me swear not to show you or she wouldn't send me anything anymore or let me visit and honestly by then I didn't think you deserved to see them anyway."  She confesses coolly while taking another sip of her bourbon
"Well could I see them now?" I ask, feeling both outraged and ashamed
"If I wasn't gonna show you I wouldn't be telling you about them.  But if you tell Lucy I showed you I'll fucking kill you.  You might not be legally aloud to see them anymore but I still can and I'd like to keep it that way."
She gets up from the chair and into her room.  She comes back out with a paper envelope and takes out some pictures of different sizes.
