There was something moving.

It kinda looked like Groot, if Jenna was being honest.

But more sinister.

The trees seemed to curl around it, and the light claimed it as its own and insisted on lighting it from behind.

It stood in the creek, its arms raised in a position that resembles a human's best attempt at imitating a t-rex.

These comparisons and descriptions might seem obscure, especially since the creature's gaze was trained on her and she was scared shitless.

As cliche as it may be, she imagined this is what a deer in car headlights felt like,

frozen in fear, waiting for death.

Yet, the creature just stared,

and Jenna stared back.

It dropped its arms and took a creaking step towards Jenna.

Jenna, surprising even herself, stepped towards it, their gazes no longer containing fear towards each other, but rather curiosity.

Funny how flippant emotions are.

Something expected or unexpected shifts them in an instant.

another mutual step forwards.

and a blur of motion.

what a fool she was.

a stumble backwards.

a feeling of shame.
