the hospital

     Alex woke me up early in the morning saying he got a text that Anna was awake from surgery. it was 6:30 in the morning and there was so much going though my mind to where words just couldn't come out of my mouth. Once we got to the hospital we told the front desk I was Annas sister and brother in law so we could go see her. I felt bad for lying but it's the only way I could see her.

   Anna looked at me with tears dripping down her eyes to her chin. I gave her a huge hug and and asked her how she was feeling. She told me that the bullet didnt go through her arm all the way which made the surgery more difficult, but thankfully they got the bullet out. She told me they don't know yet but she may never get strength back into her arm. She started to cry telling me and I started to cry too. Alex and I hugged her and I took her hand. "Anna you are officially the strongest girl I know" She laughed. "But seriously you're badass Anna. And don't you doubt for one minute that you wont get your strength back because I know you will. God loves you and God loves me. God knows your strong and he doesn't hate you. He's putting you though this because he knows you can get through it." Alex looked down at me and smiled because that is what he told me when my dad got hospitalized.

   Anna told us to go because she wants us to go makeup our anniversary today from or accident yesterday and that she'll be okay. "Oh but one thing- Alex can you tell Finn to come visit? Thank you!" Alex shouts yup at her and we leave. In the car Alex grabs my leg and asks me if I'm okay and I tell him yes. Seeing Anna made things so much better because she is still her kind, loving, and optimistic self as always. He told me he has a surprise for me at his apartment waiting for us. I was really confused. How would he pull together a surprise one night after we went though a shooting not even 24 hours ago? He held his hands over my eyes and when he let them go my Papi, Mami, Mrs Alvarez, Lydia, and Elena were all there and yelled surprise. I turned to Alex and hugged him. I ran to my Papi and jumped into his arms. I did the same with my Mami. They told me how proud they were of me and how thankful they were that Alex was there to cover me. They looked over at Alex and said
  "Son, you risked your own life to save my daughters. Even though nothing ended up happening to you two, I am still so proud of you for being the strong man you are." Alex gave them hugs. Papi whispered something to Alex but I didn't hear. Once I see Anna up again life will back back to normal. Today wasn't so bad after all.
