Win took a quick nap and woke up around two in the afternoon. He was tired from waking up too early and his head was still slightly pounding due to his hangover two nights ago.
How many glasses did I fucking finish to have a headache even after two days?
He mentally noted not to get drunk for a little while in order to cure his head. He quickly jogged downstairs because his stomach was growling and asking for food already.
"Oh Win, you're up already. Hold on, I'll prepare your lunch for you." His mom was on their dinner table checking out some business papers but she set her things aside and prepared lunch for her son.
"Mae, it's alright. I can fend for myself," he said, making his way into the fridge to search for something that he could eat or cook. He found a few vegetables and some other ingredients he can use to cook something.
"Win, let me take care of you when you're here. I cooked your favorite dish for lunch. Just let me reheat it and take a seat while you wait."
He simply nodded, grabbing a plate and a pair of spoon and fork before setting himself in front of their dining table. He didn't argue anymore because cooking would take a lot of time and he needed something inside his stomach right away. His mom served him a hot bowl of Tom Yam Goong, a thai soup with coconut milk and shrimps. He licked his lips in delight which made his mom laugh before digging in.
"Mae, it's still the best Tom Yam Goong I have tasted!" He missed home cooked food. As a student, he was always in a hurry and too busy to cook for himself. He'd mostly rely on take outs and food deliveries. Being able to taste his mother's cooking was one of the best parts of going back home.
"I'm glad you like it, son. Your father would always request this dish whenever he misses you."
It was pretty obvious that they were a close knit family. Win grew up with his parents by his side despite them being busy with the resort. One of the hardest things that he did was leaving his parents to study in a prestigious school in Bangkok.
He ate till the last drop of the soup and told his mom he would go out to take a walk. His mom would've loved to join him but she stayed behind because of some contracts that she needed to review before its renewal.
He headed for the ocean, his sunglasses on his hair and his hands on the pocket of his sweat shorts. He realized it was hot, like hot hot, so he wore his sunglasses to prevent him from squinting against the extreme rays of the golden sun. The cold ocean breeze was perfect to cool his body down with the summer heat. He took his phone and airpods out, thinking it was the perfect time to listen to some old school songs. He was scrolling through his playlist when he bumped into someone.
"I'm so sorry, I wasn't- Oh it's you again. Bright, right?" He said and laughed at the unconscious rhymed words he just made. He was also glad his phone didn't fall out of his grip because the bump was pretty hard.
The other man nodded. Win couldn't understand why something was turning in his stomach when the other smiled at him. He felt a little funny.
"Fancy bumping into you for the second time today."
"I'm sorry, I admit I'm a little clumsy at times."
Bright laughed at his sudden confession. "It's alright. I wouldn't bump into you if I was looking my way either." Bright halted for a moment and glanced around before asking, "You alone? Can I join you?"
"Sure." Win wasn't really doing anything so he figured that a small company wouldn't hurt.
They walked side by side and Win would sometimes flinch when his hands grazed Bright's. He was perfectly fine with skinship from his friends and Bright, having met him just this morning, wasn't exactly a friend so he thought maybe he was just uncomfortable that a stranger was so close to him.
