The driving force of Raelle’s choice was her love for her mom. She wants justice and wanted answers to what really happened to her mom.
Scylla, on the other hand, wanted revenge; a strong driving force why she enlisted. She wanted to challenge the system and bring it down, to avenge her parents’ death.
Because of Abigail’s family history and pride, her joining the force to be the strongest and best soldier is driven by her mother’s expectation of her, to live up to their name's pride, thus, she always gets frustrated when she’s not doing better than expected. Eventually, she finds her place and understood her own strength and as their friendship in her unit grows, she becomes a better leader.
