I put my new shiny key into the rusty lock. Juggled it a pinch and twisted.

My heart leaped when I saw the rose petals on the floor and heard the music in the bedroom.

I followed the beautiful red rose petals out of the hall, into the kitchen, right up to the bedroom door.

I flung open the door into my bedroom, ripping off my boots and flinging off my scarf. About to rip my top off.

I stopped dead in my tracks.

My heart pounding was the only thing I could hear. The girl sleeping next to Harry in my bed was the only thing I could see.

I turned my head to the left and made straight eye contact with the boy I gave exactly today, three years of my life too.

I couldn't feel my feet moving backward, and I couldn't feel the tears on my face. I couldn't hear my heavy breathing nor my screaming. I couldn't feel his hands on my shoulders. I did see the thin, tall, perky blonde dash out of my room.

I could only feel, and hear, my racing heart.
