Scorpius and Albus had just finished the "most boring Potions lesson of their lives" (or that was what the young Potter had said, making the blond laugh because, actually, the shorter had fallen asleep during the first ten minutes), and they were walking through the corridors, heading to the Great Hall for lunch.

When they heard someone calling Albus' name.

«Hey! Albus!»

They both turned their heads to the girl who had talked. Scorpius had already recognised her voice and immediately, he felt as if he needed to puke.

«What do you want, Finnegan?» Albus bit, not getting closer to her but remaining standing next to the blond.

The aforementioned had told him, about the prank and everything and about how Michelle had cautioned him.

However, he hadn't told him how just the vicinity of another person to Albus had made him faint on the ground and how the brunette had found him resting there at two in the morning.

«Ouch, where did I go wrong?» she chuckled, getting closer to them. However, Albus retreated and stared at her with an annoyed look on his face «You didn't show up at our last date and you haven't replied to my owls since we got back to Hogwarts. It seems that you don't want to go on a date with me anymore!» and she laughed again.

Why do you have to laugh so much? What's so funny? Scorpius thought. He hater her laugh. It was too high-pitched for his tastes.

«Maybe because I don't want to go on a date with you?»

All suddenly she stopped giggling and the realisation hit her hard: the Slytherins watched the expression on her face changing radically and becoming, unexpectedly, very disturbed.

And mad.

«What kind of problems do you have?» she raised her voice all of a sudden and immediately some students in the hallway stopped near them, clearly curious to see what was going on, «Have you gone more insane than you already are? Or it was this little» she pointed at Scorpius, who was feeling anger overcoming his chest «boyfriend of yours who brainwashed you?»

«First of all» Albus made a step closer towards her «He's not my boyfriend. And if he was, it wouldn't be your fucking business»

Now definitely more people had halted near the threes.

Scorpius was starting not to like it.

«Secondly, no. I have not been brainwashed» he sneered «I just realised what piece of shit you are» her eyes widened in shock but the green-eyed continued,

«You just wanted to mock me in front of the whole Hogwarts, didn't you? It was just a prank» he grinned «I'm surprised the hat sorted you in Ravenclaw. Even I could have come up with a better plan. You're not so intelligent, are you?»

Kathleen's jaw dropped. And suddenly she had her wand pointed at the boy in front of her.

Without thinking about it more than once, Scorpius moved fast and put himself between her and Albus, «Leave us alone, Finnegan. Or I'll call a teacher»

Why were all students standing there motionless? Why were they just staring at them and not doing anything?

Oh, right, no one cared about them. Everyone hated them.

«You think I care?» her voice was now bitter, furious. «I won't be mocked by everyone because I couldn't even seduce a loser like Albus Potter!»

Scorpius had already felt this protective over the shorter during the previous years. However, this time there was something different.

Something more strong. More... intense.

«Nobody will ever want you, Potter» she sneered «I hope you know that. You don't have a single talent, you can't even use your wand properly. I was your last chance» she started to walk closer to them «I was your only choice»

And then she whispered «I hope you see that nobody could ever love you. You're repugnant»

If there hadn't been so many witnesses, Scorpius would have probably hexed her.

«Albus is so much more than that. So much more than your stupid prank, so much more than you»

Scorpius advanced dangerously. «He's so much more than his last name. He's much more than a Potter. And you don't deserve him. Nobody deserves him»

Now the taller was just a few centimetres away from the Ravenclaw, «You're just an empty person, just like every else. Planning to put pranks on people just for fun. You're a coward and pathetic attention-seeker»

«How dare you!»

She pointed her wand at him. And although Albus tried to put himself between them, someone arrived before him.

«Stop this»

It was Michelle.

«Oh, look at who defends you two! Nott!» she smirked but then she was serious again, her wand now pointed at the three Slytherins, but her grip on it loosened «Go away. This doesn't concern you»

«It doesn't concern you either» she snapped «Potter rejected your invitation. He doesn't want to go on a date with you. Why do you seem so upset about it?» she grinned «You were falling in love and someone refused you? I didn't think you could be such a crybaby»

Now there was a crowd around them and many students gulped while Kathleen's mouth broadened.

There was silence, for a second. But then she spoke again, her voice now hysterical «You told them! About the prank that we had organised!»

But Albus immediately interrupted Michelle before she could talk, «No, she didn't know anything. I already knew everything. I was just waiting for you to quit. That's why I didn't show up at the date»

«Deal with it, Finnegan» Michelle took a step further in a pretty much intimidating way.

But the Ravenclaw's facial traits were distorted by anger and she got closer to her too «Don't try to put yourself against me» she paused «Remember that I could -and, trust me, I would- tell everyone that little secret of yours».

Every student in the corridor gasped. That was the first time that Scorpius saw Pansy Parkinson's daughter flinch.

And he immediately understood that there was something wrong. Very wrong.

He walked towards her slowly, leaving Albus behind him, when she suddenly spoke again.

«Go ahead, then» she whispered, sneering and getting near to her without any uncertainty in her steps «Tell everyone. But if I were in them, I would never trust a dirty slut like you».

It all happened too quickly.

Kathleen lifted her wand again, this time pointing it against the girl in front of her.

However, the hex didn't hit her.

Because Scorpius' reflexes, quicker and faster, as always, made him intervene between the two.

And he was now lying on the floor, unconscious.

The last thing he heard was Albus' scream.

"There is a theory that in an infinite amount of time, about a trillion years from now, the universe will end. All the atoms in the world will grow so far apart that there will be nothing left- and all the laughter, tears, and trials of every single human life will be wiped out. Just like that. But the look in your eyes convinces me, for a split second, that some things do not have a beginning or an end, and even if the universe flattens and chills out to complete nothingness, there will still be those eyes, staring at me. There will still be my chest, and my wrists, and my lips. Burning for you. And no matter how this world ends, or how it will begin again, this moment will stay. We will stay. Even if it's the last, and the only thing left the universe has to its name. We will be the stars' last possession„
