Chapter 9

The teacher in front of the class could not attract Mew from his cloudy mind. The words from her were like wind that came only to pass through his ears. He kept looking at the outside thinking the consequences of his actions. The notification from his phone attracted his eyes.

Mew, are you there?

Hey, why you’re not replying me? It had been 3 days.

Mew glanced at the message he received. They were from Gulf. And those reminded him about the incident on that day. He remembered the feeling of his lips against Gulf, the heavy sound of breath after the kiss and also the words he said to him. For exist. But,  the moment the reality hit his mind, he was taken aback and decided to leave Gulf's condo and Gulf alone.  He knew that he owed Gulf an explanation. He did not know why he do that. Thankful perhaps.

People say that there are only two reasons when you kissed someone. It is either you have feeling for him or you feel sorry for him. But the latter is not the answer for Mew, and he knew that well. So, is it the another one? He was too scared to admit that. No one ever truly loved him before. The hurtful past he had caused him to be cautious to love someone. His heart had been shattered before and he did not want that to happen again. The main reasons why he built the walls so high around him.

“That’s all for today. You may dismissed.” Mew did not realize that his class ended already. Students slowly got out of the class, leaving Mew and Bright behind.

“Let’s go for lunch, Mew. Come and join us.”

“Us? What do you mean?” There was a deep furrow in Mew's eyebrows. But his question answered when he heard footsteps entering the room.

“Hey, Bright! Are you already finished? Let’s go!” Eye was there. And she was not alone. Gulf with her.

“Eye, I told you to wait me in the café. But if you are already here, let’s go together. And Gulf? How?”

“I hope you didn’t mind. I came across him on my way. And his class had finished already so I asked him to join us.” Eye beamed to Bright.

“Yeah. Of course. He is your friend after all.” Bright scratched his nape. He was a bit jealous when thought that Gulf is one of Eye priority, but he understands that Eye met Gulf before him, and he also know well that Gulf is only a friend to Eye. Maybe he should be close to Gulf too.

They did not realize that there were two pairs of eyes, were staring at each other. Mew was surprised to see Gulf here, the same goes to Gulf. He just followed Eye, and he thought Bright was alone. But here the guy, that left him all alone after a kiss. His eyes settled on the cold and blank stare of Mew. There was nothing in there, beside emptiness. They held eye contact for ten seconds and Mew finally broke it and looked away and so did Gulf. Gulf knew, this is the only chance he had to talked to Mew as Mew kept ignoring his message.

“Mew, are you joining us?”

“Nope. You can go ahead and enjoy your lunch.”

“Okay, then.”

“Eye, can you go first with Bright? I will join you later.” Gulf whispered to Eye. He needed to do this. Now or never.
Eye knew there was something happened between Gulf and Mew. Seeing that there was no smile on Gulf's face when he met Mew, that is not Gulf she knew. Maybe they need space to discuss the problems.
