Shoto Todoroki was a distant man. He didn't seem like he was very popular. He was a simple mechanic, living a simple life. He lived with his Dad, his sister, and his two brothers. His house was small, they didn't have a lot of money but they managed. His mom died in a mental hospital when he was younger. His father was an abusive drunk so he was always covering for his siblings. He had an older brother Touya who was 28. Touya had similar habits to his father's. Often getting into bar fights or leaving with his toxic friends Himiko and Tomura.

Fuyumi was Shoto's older sister. She was 26 and lived in the house with Natsuo and Shoto. She worked as a waitress at the local diner and had a two year old son named Kai. Natsuo was 25 and was a mechanic alongside Shoto. Him and Shoto had fun working on cars, and building things. Shoto never let anyone in his life, he had no reason too. That however, was all about to change.

The ambulance sirens started to fade into the distance. "Ma'am I can drive you to the hospital if you would like"He mumbled. He may have sounded cold but his allude personality was a guard for him. Inko wiped her tears and nodded. She gave him her car keys and sat in the back with Eri and Kota.

Shoto felt horrible about everything, he felt his stomach knot. He walked to the car and took them to the hospital. Inko cried quietly in the back as she cradled her two younger ones close. Shoto looked in the rearview mirror seeing Inko in the reflection. He kept his eyes forward and pulled into the hospital parking lot.

" I can walk home from here, you just visit that man. "Shoto mumbled as he parked then handed her the keys. Inko got out and shook her head. "Come with us. I'm sure you want to know what happened. I can take you home after." Shoto truly did want to know so he nodded his head. He wasn't sure how his father would react but that wasn't a concern at the moment.

Shoto followed Inko, Kota, and Eri into the hospital. Patients and Doctors ran around as it was a busy evening. Inko sat in the waiting room praying Izuku was alright. She looked at Shoto seeing his discomfort. "How did you find him?" She asked.

"I was walking along the beach. I like the sound of the waves after a long day of work. I saw a wheelchair in the distance but no one was in it. I went a little closer and saw a trail that led up to that man. He was getting in the water. Something didn't feel right so I went after him. Sure enough he tried to drown. I'm not the strongest swimmer but I managed to pull him out. "Shoto mumbled.

"Thank you. I never should have left him alone. "Inko sighed. Shoto shook his head and looked at her. "Ma'am it is never your fault if a person makes those choices. No one forced him so you should never blame yourself. And the most important thing is that he is ok. He made it. But may I ask what happened to him?"

"There was a surfing accident.  He had so many injuries I didn't think he would make it. His spine was fractured and even with the rods he still can't walk. He is devastated. Surfing was his everything." Inko replied as a doctor approached them. "Mrs. Midoriya? He is alright but due to this being a suicide attempt I insist he go to a mental facility. They have the equipment to help him reco-"The doctor tried to state but Shoto cut him off.

" They won't help him. He needs someone to talk too not someone to shove pills down his throat. Ma'am he only needs someone to care for him. He feels alone and afraid because the one thing he had was taken from him. I know how that feels and shoving him in an asylum won't fix that"Shoto huffed.

"Correctional ward. It's to better the mental hea-"Shoto cut him off again. "I don't speak bullshit"Shoto snapped his cold eyes piercing into the doctors. "But we can-"The doctor tried to fight for his case. "Did I stutter? He doesn't need pills he needs someone who will spend time and actually care for him"Shoto growled. He may not know Izuku, but he didn't want him to turn out like his mother.

"Sweetie. You care for my son, even though you only just met?"

"He is hurting ma'am. The best thing for him is to find new ways to live his life. He isn't dead but he will be if he is locked away in some asylum. Those are actually illegal here which is why they have changed the name. It's still the same psychotic treatment. Ma'am no one deserves to be locked away. I saw it in his eyes there is still hope. Find someone who can help him without locking him up." Shoto pleaded.

"You. You saved my son. You say he still has hope. Can you work with him? Help him?"Inko looked at Shoto begging for help. Shoto shook his head "Why me?"

" Because you are fighting for him now. You may be his only hope"

'Great no pressure' Shoto thought. He sighed and looked at the doctor"I'll make you a deal doc. If I can get him fully recovered mentally you have to cover any medical bills he may have. "

"And if you don't?" The doctor looked at him. "You can take Izuku to the mental hospital and I'll vouch it's a good idea. On top of that I will pay for his bills including the interest you have secretly been charging her" The doctor stared at him for a long while before finally answering. "You seem trustworthy. You have three months or I win the deal. " Shoto nodded and shook his hand.

Inko hugged Shoto tightly "Thank you! "She smiled.

"You're welcome. Now you should check on him"

Inko took his hand and started taking him to Izuku's room.

Izuku was sitting up staring at the walls. He didn't seem pissed it was more he was crying out for help. Shoto followed after her and looked at Izuku. "Honey, meet this kind man who has offered to help you" She beamed.

Izuku looked at Shoto and glared "I don't need help" Shoto shook his head "Actually you do. That stunt you pulled could have put you in the mental hospital. Most people who go in there never leave. So I suggest you quit being a selfish ass and think about your mother.

" Get out "Izuku's eyes darkened.

" No"

"I said get out!"

" And I said no! "

"You don't know me! You don't know what I have been through!"

"Then enlighten me"Shoto said. His tone effortlessly went from cold to gentle and inviting.

Izuku slowly looked at him. For a brief moment his eyes softened. Inko saw a small glimmer of hope in Izuku's eyes. She was sad to see it fade so quickly but like Shoto said. There was still hope for Izuku. It grew silent in the room. Shoto and Izuku stared at eachother and for a moment Izuku felt...safe.
