She saw Aaron take his sword out and deflect the arrow, but that's all she saw. She took off running again, this time watching out for monsters near her. She reached a huge pile of rocks that resembled a pile of poop, and started looking for a place to hide. She heard Aaron's footsteps again and searched more frantically. Finally, she spotted a small crack, barely enough for her to fit through, but it'd do. She slipped through it just as he started walking by.
"Lily, I know you're hiding! Please come out so that we can talk this out," he said. "I swear on the River Styx I'm not going to hurt you." Lily heard thunder boom in the distance and crept out of her hiding place.
"Does that mean you die if you hurt me now?" she asked. He shook his head, but stopped Lily from going back into her hiding place where he couldn't get her.
"It'll have severe consequences if I break it, but I don't think it'll kill me," he explained. Lily nodded, but sat there tense.
"What do you need to talk about?" she asked. He sighed.
"I get you don't trust people, especially boys, but I want you to trust me. I'm not going to hurt you, nor is anyone else at this camp. So will you at least try to trust me?" he asked, and put his hand out. She shrank back a little, but eventually shook it. He sighed with relief.
"I'm sure you're hungry now, so do you want to go eat?" she nodded and followed him through the forest. By the time they got there, she heard a conch horn. She guessed that was calling the campers for dinner. She looked at Aaron nervously.
"Can I sit next to you?" she asked him. To her disappointment he shook his head.
"Until you're claimed, we don't know where you'll sit. So for now you have to sit with the Hermes cabin." She nodded stiffly. When they got to the mess hall, Aaron pointed at a table full of kids.
"You'll sit there till you're claimed by your godly parent," he told her. Then he went to go sit at a table full of kids with tan skin like his. They all welcomed him to the table, clapping his back and whatnot. Lily nervously looked over at the table full of kids and sat down next to a girl about her age.
"Hello! I'm Leslie! I'm guessing you're a new kid at camp, aren't you? What's your name?" Lily warily looked at the girl before responding.
"Yeah, I'm new. My names Lily," she said. Suddenly a gust of wind brought a plate of pizza to her. A goblet was on her right side, yet empty. Leslie must've noticed her confusion because she laughed.
"Tell it what you want, and it'll fill up with it," she said. Lily felt stupid, but she looked at the goblet and said," Dr. Pepper." Sure enough, the goblet filled up with Dr. Pepper. Just as she was taking a sip Leslie gasped. Lily put the goblet down and was about to ask what was the matter when she noticed a strange light over her head. She looked up and saw a trident above her head. Then it changed to a owl, a blazing fire, and a crescent moon. Then the final one was a sun. Chiron, who was now in centaur form, bowed.
"All hail Lily Hearth, daughter of Poseidon, blessed by Athena, Hestia, Artemis, and Apollo."
