The drive to my house was awkward neither of us tired to start up a conversation. I played with the hem of my shirt as I looked out the window, thinking of a way to bring up the school trip. A few minutes later we were pulling into the drive way and he turned off the car.
" So we're cool?" He asked turning to look at me.
"We're cool." I nodded pushing the hair out of my face.
"What made you change your mind?" He asked.
"Just cause." I shrugged, not quite ready to admit that I have feelings for him.
"Are you going to the hiking trip?" I finally asked meeting his gaze.
"Are you?" He asked.
"I asked you first." I said.
"Maybe." He answered as the corner of his lips slightly curled up. A playful look shining through his eyes.
"Are you going or not?" I huffed beginning to get flustered.
"Yes Camila, I am going." He said.
"Are you going with someone?" I timidly asked as my face flushed.
"Is this you asking me out? Because it feels like you're asking me out" he asked raising an eyebrow.
"I-I am not asking you out!" I exclaimed as my face flushed.
"No. I'm not going with anyone." He chuckled running his hand gently through my hair.
"Do you want to go together?" I mumbled awkwardly playing with my fingers.
"I'll pick you up in the morning." He nodded.
"So yes?" I asked just to make sure we were on the same page.
"Yes." He nodded and a small smile formed against my lips.
"What are you doing tomorrow?" He blurted as I was grabbing my stuff.
"Tomorrow? Um, I'm not sure. Why?"
"Be ready by 10:00 pm." He said turning on his car.
"It's a school night." I said looking at him confused.
"So?" He asked raising an eyebrow.
"Wear comfortable clothes and make sure to bring a jacket."
"Okay." I said as I got out of the car.
After watching him leave I walked into my house and found my mom and Josh in the living room watching t.v with the baby on the portable bassinet. As the door closed both their heads turned to me and a smile formed on my moms face.
"You're home." She said untangling herself from Josh's arms and walking over towards me as I dropped my bag near the door.
"Good day at school today?" She asked as she followed me into the kitchen.
"It was fine." I shrugged plopping down on a random chair.
"Hungry?" She asked as she threaded her fingers through my brown locks.
"No." I murmured as her fingertips rubbed small circles against my skull. I relaxed into her touch and closed my eyes for a few seconds before opening them again.
"There's a school trip this weekend." I brought up and her movements stopped.
"There is?" She asked
"Mhm, it's a hiking trip." I added.
"But you hate hiking." She chuckled and I frowned.
" Are you sure you want to go? Last time we went hiking you almost passed out" She teased.
