I won't forget the time that I came to realize,
In a world filled to the brim we are all alone,
The innocence had gone and lost itself on me now,
The beauty in the lie had vanished from its place,

I tried to find my one thing worth fighting for,
But all I held was a lack of faith in its place,
The trumpets cry and blow the tune's end,
And then the lights go out, and you're on your own again,

You'll never forget that amazing show,
But you'll never bask in the light of that hall once more,

Did you find your path,
Did you find your home,
Or do you wander through the dark alone,
Who knew the truth would be so broken and cold,
It's not the world we saw painted in gold,

It's a cheap knock off chocolate coin,
That tastes stale when the film is gone,
An illusion of beauty and value,
When the real thing tastes of dirt,

Wandering through the dark alone,
Is seemingly all we do,
No matter what your mentors tell you,
No one ever has a clue,

And those who say they do are simply full of shit,
They want you to see the world for what it's not,
Is there beauty in that? Perhaps,
The lie was sure more fun,
But the crushing reality is inevitable,
So may as well get it done.
