EXTENDED SUMMARY
Children can be cruel, Kazehana Koemi knows this better than most. Growing up, she found those her age either ignoring her or ridiculing her for her appearance, something she had no control over. However, it is due to this cruelty that Koemi found herself forging an unbreakable bond with the volatile boy down the street; all it took was a shitty punch and the sharing of snacks and she found herself with a friend she knew would guard her back as fiercely as she guarded his.
Fast-forward ten years and Koemi has forged herself an iron spine with an iron-will to match. Refusing to ever apologize for being herself again, the brash girl has clawed her way to the top of a sport dominated by men, determined to prove herself as one of the best. Surrounded and supported by driven teammates, she can already taste the victory of the End of Summer championship the Seijoh stride team is sure to win. In fact, it was all part of her plan for her last year of highschool; conquer E.O.S., pass her classes, participate in training camps, get scouted by a college team, and graduate with a thrilling future ahead. Nowhere did the human hurricane known as Oikawa Tooru fit in.
And yet, he did. Forcing his way into her life, his made his goal clear: he wants her to help him wrestle her best friend into line so that the Seijoh volleyball team can make it to Nationals. It's a commendable goal, but Koemi knows Kyotani Kentaro well... well enough that she bluntly tells Oikawa he would never be able to gain Kyotani's trust or respect.
However, equally blunt Iwaizumi Hajime— the eye of the hurricane —who cackled at Oikawa's face when she responded?
He was a different story.

note: I am the biggest Iwaizumi simp and have been planning this fic for quite some time now, so I figured I'd publish it haha. The sport Stride is from Prince of Stride, along with E.O.S, but I've added a lot of tweaks and differences to the sport that'll be explained later on in the fic and I'm really excited to share Koemi's story with you! also, a big shoutout to the lovely meowtodoroki for listening to me ramble about this fic <3 ily so much
As much as I try to write diverse characters, I've noticed most of my female characters tend to fall on the chiller side of things because that's how I am and that's definitely translated into my writing without me meaning for it to happen. So, I wanted to switch things up and write a character that's not good with words and really blunt and unapologetic for who she is. Plus, I think Kyotani deserves more recognition as a character and I can't wait to explore his and Koemi's friendship, along with Iwaizumi and Koemi's friendship :) after all, is it really one of my fics if I don't focus more on platonic relationships rather than romantic lmao
