Going shopping

Hastily, but not excitedly, I quietly went to my room and made my hair into a proper bun and came downstairs to wait for my mum who was still busy with her makeup as though she was going to attend some fancy party

"Ha!" I sighed

I guess despite taking after her physical features except the variation in my hair, hers was blonde while mine was brunette. I still took after my dad's lifestyle and not so great sense of hum our so much that the bright green eyes I inherited from my mum couldn't hide that.

Bringing out my writing pad out of my shoulder bag, I began scribbling a few words though not successfully creating a satisfactory paragraph which made me mutter a swear under my breath while I fiddled with my pen, swaying my head

"Seriously!" my mum said placing both arms by her waist with a questioning look on her face and I offered her a sheepish smile as I answered

"Yes"

"That's not working, Go drop that" my mum said authoritatively pointing towards my room, am I the only one who can't resist someone begging me, it always works on me but she wasn't even flinching

"But mom" I said trying to coerce her into reconsidering

"Drop it" my mum said with a note of finality and I knew there was no going back. I let my arms drop and sluggishly walked to my room and dropped my notes. As I came downstairs, I met my mum waiting impatiently. So much for the woman who made me wait twenty good minutes just to apply makeover

"Finally " my mum said and sighed loudly while I stood there with a blank expression on my face, not ready to argue

"Where is Jerry" I asked just noticing I had not seen him since morning that bundle of trouble

"At Alvin's" my mum replied casually as she walked towards her car

"Okay" I mumbled as I slid into the front passenger seat and stayed silent for a while I guess I am not just good at carrying on conversation but trust my mum to always revive them.

* * *
" Do you even have a life?" my mum asked as she buckled her seat belts and ignited the car

"Yes" I replied simply not wanting this conversation to go on for much longer, I knew exactly where she was heading at

" When last have you spoken to Jeff" I said trying to change the subject, by Jeff, I was referring to my elder brother who is currently at college

"Don't try to change the subject" my mum said

"Do you have a boyfriend?" mum asked sparing me a glance, great seems like my mum has also decided to start harassing me on a topic Maya  constantly bickers me on already.

"No" I said hesitantly, my mind racing back to Tyler's proposal, that was a problem I would have to face when we resume which by the way was only two weeks to come, actually a week and a half which made me give a slight frown which my mum did not even notice.

"How do you even enjoy your life?" She asked

"Well, I don't have a problem with it" I said swallowing a scoff

We had finally arrived at a boutique I don't even care enough to memorise its name because I doubt if I would ever need it.

"For heaven's sake, you are about to start senior year, your last year in high school, so why not free up and live it to the fullest it is just once in a lifetime" my mum said throwing her arms in the air

"Whatever" I muttered closing the topic and she didn't bother pressing me

As we walked along the boutique, I wasn't seeing any clothes I was interested in.

"Look" my mum said pointing towards a green sleeveless dress that I was sure would be short for me. Okay I am not that tall, I range just along 5'3

"No!"I exclaimed

"Why?"she asked appearing puzzled

"Everything, first of all, I don't wear dresses, its armless, way too short and sparkly" I ranted

"Exactly, it is beautiful" my mum said cooing

"Do you think, I would give you if it were not nice?" my mom pointed out

"No I mumbled" realizing she was making a point and she threw me a puppy dog face which I couldn't resist, remind me to start learning to resist people

"Okay" I muttered

"Thank you" she said happily hugging me

Then we went over to the shoe section where she picked out a silver heel

"Not happening" I replied waving my hands , and she did not bother to coerce me. Even if she did bother, I was not ready to accept, I mean I had already gotten that ridiculously great dress, I still wonder how I would look in it

We left there and began walking in the flats section and I immediately picked a lovely silver flats and for the first time my mum commented that I made a good choice and I simply smiled

Mum picked up a set of jewelries and a really cute silver purse and we moved towards the counter where we paid and left

"We are stopping to pick Jerry at Alvin's" my mum explained

"Okay" I said as I buckled my seat belt around me

After picking up Jerry, we got home around three o clock exhausted, at least I would rest which I needed. That should give me enough energy to get through dealing with whatever I face at work tomorrow.

Besides I trust fate to always send me some customers I always wish I never met. I hope that changes
