Dibujo de la marina de guerra de las Provincias Unidas del Río de la Plata en 1818.
Éste dibujo está mayormente basado en Hipólito Bouchard, un francés de nacionalidad argentina, un corsario y militar en aquella época. Él peleó junto a San Martín en el Combate de San Lorenzo, también se lo reconoció por otros temas cómo su conquista en California y su ayuda a la liberación de Centroamérica, con su fragata La Argentina. Bouchard, quien estaba fuertemente inspirado por las ideas de independencia y con intenciones de saqueo, zarpó hacia California que en ese entonces aún pertenecía a España y luchó contra los realistas, haciendo así que por seis días California sea parte del territorio argentino. Navegando por aquellas zonas se encontró con Centroamérica, donde consiguió sus mejores logros. Años después con la liberación de estos países, como agradecimiento, en la creación de sus bandera se basaron-inspiraron en la bandera Argentina que Bouchard lucía tan orgullosamente en lo alto de su fragata. Eso explicaría las similitudes que hay entre las banderas centroamericanas (no insulares) y la argentina.
