Reminder that every word you say could have an impact
But if your mind
Doesn't care anymore, I guess you're like me
I won't lose myself, though it's much easier to stay silent and
Breathe
But I don't stay silent for long,
And I will not.
How are people so deep in thier biases
It affects
Whether they pull the trigger or not?
And put in a system of power
With all the control
Makes it worse.
That little freckle on your pale skin
Imagine that shade spread all over
And suddenly you're a target to be fired at
People are so deep in
That they see murder
And still condone it
Following aimlessly, never thinking for themselves
(Or about what other's must feel)
His morals may be idiotic
But he's lived long enough to know how to take control
"They'll listen to anything I say"
Send in the police
Send in the murderers
Arm them with rubber bullets and tear gas
And use them improperly
Shoot them at peaceful protestors
Their voices are a threat
To our system of power
And they must be stopped
Look at that black man, isn't he a threat?
He has his hood up with a bag of skittles, heard his name is
Trayvon Martin
(He's only 17)
Break into that house, don't announce yourselves,
though the suspect has already been arrested
Shoot your gun, kill in "self-defense"
Though she's lying in her bed
Heard her name was
Breonna Taylor
(She's an EMT)
Look at this gentle giant, with this "fake" 20 dollar bill
Put him onto the ground, as he's "resisting arrest"
Put a knee on his neck, choke him to death
As he screams I CAN'T BREATHE
you won't get blamed, no one ever gets blamed
3rd degree murder that should be 2nd
he died from his heart condition so they say
So they can get away with it
18 OTHER COMPLAINTS AND NO ONE DID A THING
His name was
George Floyd
SAY THEIR NAMES.
Over and over
Until the world finally pays attention
And families get the justice they deserve
They can silence us, spray tear gas, and fire 8-inch rubber billets in our face
But this has gone on too long
Murder should never be justified
Don't tell the protestors what they're doing wrong
Ask yourself,
"What is the US doing wrong?"
