"Matthew, you dipped your paintbrush in the wrong paint colour!" I panicked, scolding Matthew with frustration laced with my voice. He had just painted the fresh dark brown volcano a dark purple colour.

"What the hell? Who even put the purple paint on the palette?" Matthew questioned with the same frustration I had in my tone. Both Matthew and I turned our heads to Mason who was looking anywhere but Matthew and I, clearly guilty.

He noticed us scowling at him and he grinned innocently. "I'm sorry! The palette just looked so empty. I had to add something."

"Well, now we have a purple stain on our volcano. Thanks a lot, Matthew." I huffed and began painting over the purple paint. It helped, but the dark purple was still noticeable. I decided to blame this one on Matthew, because I don't even know why.

Matthew rolled his eyes and continued painting again. Mason was on his phone, texting someone. What caught Matthew's and my attention is what Mason had said next: "My mom wants me home now. She's picking me up, so I have to go meet her at the bus stop. Will you guys be okay?"

I shook my head and my eyes bulged. "No, it is not okay-"

"It's fine, Mason. Go home." Matthew interrupted me, causing me to glare at him with pure hatred. Of course, Mason listened to him instead of me - so he gladly stood up, got his backpack, and left.

I turned to Matthew and continued to glare at him as he innocently painted, a smug look on his face (a smirk). "You're really getting on my nerves, did you know that?"

"Don't worry, baby," Matthew cooed amusingly and scooted over to me. He played with my hair, making my breathing pick up and me to tense up. "The feeling's mutual."
