Everything's New Even though it's Normal(Pandemic)

Streets filled with kids runnin' and playin',

Fun games under the scorching sun.
The grass beside the street sways back and forth.
Seeing a perfect view whilst sitting under the shade of a tree is such a bliss.

Suddenly the place became out of reach,
In split seconds, streets were all at peace.
It used to be my escape,
But now it's just a dream.

A crowded place was once there,
Brushing each others shoulders or even stepping a stranger's feet but no one care.
Yet, today's new,
Everyone's anxious.

A single sneeze,
And everyone's eyes are glued on you.
A single cough,
And the person you sit with, will walk away.

Waking up late.
Breakfast turns into lunch.

Bedroom turns into a classroom or an office,
Talking with your friends means virtual interaction.

Everything's new,
Everything's under controlled.
Staying outside are strictly prohibited,
Going outside with bare face means you break the rules.

Reminds me of a kid stepping outside the door,
Yet, someone screams to bring an umbrella.
But for today's era,
You're that specific kid and you're being screamed to wear mask.

Death is inevitable they say,
Tons of life are at risk.
Cure's still on search,
Like, battling to win a war yet fully unprepared.

Everything's new, even though it's normal,
It's normal to wear mask.
It's normal to stay at home for several days.
It's normal not to go to school or a workplace.

It's normal to have a 1 meter distance.
It's normal to get starved.
It's normal to ran out of food.
Before, I used to describe things normal if it's familiar on me.
For now I guess not, today's new right?
