The following poem is a contest entry, based on the COVID-19 pandemic. I did not want to write it, but the contest was very tempting and plus the registration was free. So I racked up my brain as much as I could to write about about something I didn't really want to write about.

_____

Restart

The influence of little things

Has been misconstrued since long.

Longer than in records

Too old to exist.

It started from one, then two, then quite a few,

And suddenly it was all over a country.

Carelessness, ignorance, idiocy ensued.

And suddenly it was all over the world.

Quarantine and lockdown, diagnosis and isolation.

Stay away, stay home, stay safe.

This trying time is going to teach us how to step back,

So that we can move forward.

You see the news.

You see the pollution levels minimizing.

You see deers and birds running free.

And it makes you wonder, "Has mother nature decided to restart herself?"

Maybe, you think.

Like a charm, it's revealing things that were once considered false.

Showing that humanity really is more important than money,

This pandemic is a necessary evil.

And like Mother Earth, it is our duty to restore and restart.
