"Today's the day Cutie Mark Crusaders!" Applebloom cheered as she watched her friends approach her. "Today's the day we are all gonna get our cutie marks in...bowling!" Applebloom cheered as she gestured to the Ponyville Bowling Alley behind her, with Scootaloo and Sweetie Belle also looking happy.
"Woohoo!" Scootaloo cheered as she jumped in excitement.
"Wmmhmm!" Sweetie Belle cheered, but her mouth was muffled by carrying her bag, so she spat it out. "I mean, yay!"
"Why, after today, we won't even be the Cutie Mark Crusaders anymore. We'll be the...the Three Strikes!" Applebloom exclaimed happily.
"That makes us sound like we've struck out." Scootaloo noted.
Hmmm, how about...the Pin Twins." Applebloom suggested.
"But there are three of us." Sweetie Belle pointed out.
"Okay then..." Applebloom said as she thought about a name again. "The Bowling Dolls!"
"The Bowling Dolls, that's it!" Sweetie Belle said in agreement.
"Perfect!" Scootaloo said.
"Alrighty then, let's bowl 'em over!" Applebloom said in determination.
And that us what they attempted, with the drive to earn a cutie mark in bowling, they tried their hardest. Their hardest, however, wasn't enough.
For Sweetie Belle's case, she tried to roll her ball down the middle gently, but that ended up causing it to roll down the gutter, missing the pins entirely. When it was Scootaloo's turn, she tried bucking the ball to get a strike, but she ended up missing the lane entirely and causing it to hit a wall, much to her embarrassment. And now it was Applebloom's turn.
Applebloom narrowed her eyes in concentration, as she picked up the bowling ball with her mouth. Her friends watched with anticipation as she slowly made her way close to the aisle and spat her ball out, causing it to roll down. A ball hit a strike, causing everypony to cheer.
"Cool, a bowling cutie mark!" A pony with a pink and yellow shirt cheered.
Applebloom gasped happily. "I did it! I did it!" Applebloom cheered as she looked at her, but she found it still blank, much to her dismay. "Blank?"
The cheering continued as she looked to see another fillie from the lane next to her and saw that she was admiring her very own cutie mark, which was a bowling ball hitting a pin.
"But..but...but what about my ball?" Applebloom asked as she looked down her lane.
Turns out her ball was moving at a very slow pace, until it finally reached the pins. However, when the ball reached the pins, it didn't even knock the first pin down. Applebloom looked down in sadness at another failure to earn a cutie mark, with her friends looking at her in sympathy.
After that fiasco, the three crusaders left the bowling alley, much to the joy of the manager. Applebloom was still looking pretty bummed out from not earning her cutie mark, while Scootaloo, who was going at a slow pace on her scooter, and Sweetie Belle were just happy to have some fun.
"That bowling sure was fun, even if all I got was a gutter ball." Sweetie Belle said.
"Yeah, at least you're able to keep your ball in your lane. I don't think Mr. Kingpin is going to ever let me play again." Scootaloo said before speeding off in her scooter and jumping off a rock platform, with Sweetie Belle catching up with her. "Hey, maybe I can get a cutie mark in demolition?" This idea caused her and Sweetie to laugh, but Applebloom continued to walk with downcast expression on her face. "Awe, come on, Applebloom."
