Chapter Twenty-Seven:
Reality
Narrator's perspective:
Eren regained his consciousness back, now he was bandaged up and in bed. He could barely remember the past events. He looked around, and became confused. He was no longer in Levi's upscale apartment, he was in his normal bedroom, back at home. Suddenly he remembered the whole night, "Levi had to go out..for liquor....and when he came back he.....he beat me up.." His thoughts trailed off as he spoke into the hollow air. He lifted up his shirt and bandages had been wrapped neatly, his eyes grew wider and wider as more and more of the badges came into his view, when a small note on top his old bedside table caught his attention.
It was the note from before, the one he had given him just over a week ago, with his contact information, except this time it was attached to a small bag. The shocked boy gently scooped it off the floor and into his lap. Inside it was a rolled up piece of paper. Detailed instructions of how to treat stitches and how to replace bandages and when filled the contents. "Had levi written this?" Eren thought to himself as he set it aside, and pulled out more objects. "He had to of, and stitches? How the hell did he get stitches without knowing..?"
Two whole rolls of bandages, disinfectant, painkillers, and a couple other basic medical supplies were inside. Eren didn't know what to do with himself. He broke down. "So it really was just all a big fat lie." Eren sighed and started to cry and shake. He didn't care about the world around him, he just wanted to know why Levi did it. After all the trust Eren had put into him, after all the faith and comfort he had when they were together... it was all gone. He felt like making this the end, right then and there but he knew even if he wanted to, he couldn't bring himself to do it.
He had gotten to know levi, at least that's what he thought, but now he was starting to doubt that. He felt betrayed and useless...and he knew he was. His life was a waste, and that's all it was. Maybe Levi should've just killed him then and there. Why didn't he? That question would forever linger in Eren's much curious mind.
He took a few minutes to come to his senses. Now all he felt was rage, pure boiling rage. After all the time spent together, after all the trust, after all of the seemingly amazing moments. How could he just throw them all away like that? After all the long talks, after the kisses, after all of the cuddling, how? How could he just go and destroy me? These thoughts crossed Erens mind for hours as he lay in bed, all alone.
His dad was no longer home, and Mikasa and Armin didn't fly back here until Saturday, which was tomorrow but he felt like nothing mattered now. He laid in bed pretty much all day, and didn't do anything. He couldn't. Pain was present in all areas of his body and it prevented him from doing a lot. He thought back, back to the times he had spoken about his trauma.
Levi had darted upstairs following the sound of where his voice came from. He found Eren leaning up against the wall, knees to his chest, the phone still in hand, and he looked terrified. " Oi, brat I heard you yell what's the matter?" Levi was always quick to ask, and wasn't a very patient person in certain situations. "Well my scumbag father is about five minutes away, and he drinks a lot and when he's drunk sometimes he h-hits me." Eren quickly said while recklessly throwing things into his suitcase, in that moment he didn't care.
Once in the bathroom he grabbed paper towels and wiped the makeup off while running it under hot water revealing the bruises and one scar, Eren took a quick glance at Levi and saw his eyes narrow and then widen, then Levi spoke up: "What are the bruises from, and that scar it's rather large." He asked, actually showing some emotion and making it clear he was curious but not trying to show it as he raised one narrow black eyebrow. "Well, that scar is from when my father, drunk and high as hell through a beer bottle at me, and the others are from times he's kicked and hit me," Eren said looking down at the floor.
Not all of the times came to mind, but the ones that did came in at full speed and he felt overwhelmed. He grabbed the older note off of his dresser and clutched in his hand. In that moment had he really considered calling Levi? Of course he had. He was the only one who had shown Eren the real support he needed. In the depths of his body he knew that Levi had not been the man Eren made him out to be. Levi might as well think he's a monster.
There was still so much left to find out, so much missing information. Eren felt he needed the truth. A part of him was now extremely frightened by Levi, but he had a flame that wasn't about to go out. He knew inside that this wouldn't be their last interaction. This was the conclusion Eren had come to. He felt as if he knew one thing about Levi, and that was that when he did something, Levi always had a valid reason to ... And Eren himself? He wouldn't give up on knowing the truth. If the truth killed him so be it. He didn't want to live his life haunted by trauma anymore. Eren had always slightly overestimated himself, but that was what made him different.
He held the hand written note over his head, and noticed that information had been added to it.

Brat, don't contact me unless you're dying or need help or some shit and be at my house at 7:00 pm sharp.
Dear Eren, Now that I look back on what I've done I understand you are going to hate me, and I'm ready to live with that, you wouldn't be the first. It had to be done.
Those lines really stung in Eren's mouth. Hate was a strong cliche everyone used, and most believe it to be true. Eren wasn;t about to accept the feeling of hate towards Levi, it had been shoved down his throat by Mikasa all these years, but he knew that it wasn't anyone's choice on how he thought about other people. The last lines are the most bitter of them all. "It had to be done." Eren clutched the note to his chest. "Why Levi!? Why did it have to be done!" Tears started to form in his eyes. "WHY...WHY DID YOU DISCARD ME LIKE THIS.....WHAT DID I- I TRUSTED YOU...." Hot tears poured down his face and he started to feel like he couldn't breathe, as if he was a fish drowning in its own water, all sense had left his mind. When those decrepit last few words had left Eren's mouth, a part of him did too.
