Sam Winchester hated every fiber of his being. From the moment he was born to now, he always felt like he didn't belong. As if his place in the world was just to forward some elaborate plot. A TV show maybe. Alex taking his place only made him feel worse. He refused to talk to Dean, other than of course when grabbing food. What the hell were they supposed to do now? Move on? Settle into some "apple pie" life so to speak?

After leaving Bobby's house, Sam had suggested, in as little words as possible, that Dean should drop him off at the bus station and drive to Lisa's house. So that's exactly what they did. Dean acted like any normal human. He drove, switched with Sam when his exhaustion levels sky-rocketed, and stopped for food. It felt - it felt unnatural. This is Dean Winchester. The man who drove a ten-hour trip in seven hours. The man who didn't bother stopping for a rest - especially when lives were at stake.

Greyhound bus station lay just outside of Battle Creek, Michigan. Lisa's house was only a few miles up the road and that's exactly where Dean intended on staying. He pulled the Impala over to the side of the road, cutting the engine. Sam grabbed his backpack and reached out to open the door, but it wouldn't budge. He looked over at Dean with an annoyed expression and gestured to the locked door.

"What, no goodbye?" Dean questioned. Sam was different now and Dean didn't like that at all. How was he supposed to just leave his baby brother like this?

"Dean," Sam insinuates. "Open the door."

"So he speaks! Finally." Sam rolls his eyes at the snide comment. "Sam, you've changed. And it's not for the better. Do you actually expect me to let you leave like this? No friggin' way."

"Dean, my twin sister is gone. I just want to be alone. There's no way I'm rooming with you and Lisa an-and and that kid. It ain't happening. So just let me off here and we'll go our separate ways." Sam fumed with anger as he spoke.

"That kid is called Ben, and I wasn't suggesting you room with us. Yes, I'll let you go your own way, because it's obvious that we both need time. But we have something to do first."

At this, Sam paused. "What could we possibly have to do now?"

Dean sighed and rubbed his eyes. "We have to find Carlisle."

"The Cullen doctor guy? Why?"

"Because as much as I hate his guts, he loved Alex. Anyone could see that. And he deserves to know the truth. Once that's over I'll drop you off wherever the hell you want."

Sam shook his head in disbelief. "Dean, you're crazy. I-I mean, how're we even supposed to find this guy. They left her, remember?"

"Well then we start in Forks. Best lead we got." Dean gave Sam a goofy grin and raised his eyebrows up and down."

Sam gave no response. Instead he sighed in defeat, settled back in his seat, and plugged his earbuds into his iPod. He knew he'd never win an argument so he might as well try and find this vampire. Secretly - in his mind - Sam was thrilled to be doing something. If he couldn't save his twin, the least he could do is make sure no one ever forgot her. Ever.

Dean on the other hand rubbed his palms together, delighted that he was getting his way. Like Sam, he knew that reaching into Hell and pulling his baby sister out was out of the question. Despite the fact that Dean would literally walk blindfolded over red-hot Legos to save his sister, he felt content with this plan. He started up the Impala's engine and she roared off in the distance towards Forks, Washington.

"My God, why is this place so friggin' green?" Dean asked sarcastically. "Who the hell owns green silverware?"
