When I got to my parents house they were about to have breakfast, I greeted mom before taking my seat. Dad on the other hand was reading his newspaper not paying no mind to me. I knew I was in trouble of some sort. Mamu'Gloria served breakfast and then excused herself, the atmosphere was so tense you could cut the tension with a knife.

"Hows the baby treating you?" mom asked breaking the uncomfortable silence

I shrugged "ok I guess, the cravings are the worst"

She chuckled "I remember when I was pregnant with you, I only ever ate bread with Avocado and peanut butter" I made a sour face and she chuckled "I know its disgusting but it was the best thing I had ever tasted" I shook my head "don't judge ok! I loved what I was eating, it was life ok!" she said stuffing fruit in her mouth

"still disgusting mom. My cravings are your usual junk" I said stuffing my mouth with a pineapple

She chuckled "lucky you"

"how long have you and Sni... I mean Lwando been fooling around?" dad broke out behind his newspaper

I looked at mom and she shrugged. I swallowed hard "I met him last December in East London, we met on the plane. One thing led to another, we exchanged contacts and then this happened" I said pointing at my bump

He chuckled "and when I asked you who the father was?"

"I was scared to tell you, I was scared of what you might do to him" I said playing with my food

He kept quiet for a while "so when I told him to drive you to your apartment, did you even go to Howard or you went gallivanting with him?"

"does it matter?" mom asked "he's her baby daddy and that wont change. Lucky her she is marrying him so I don't see what the problem is"

"the problem is that she lied!" he said banging on the table "you lied Amanda. I'm your husband and instead of telling me the truth you lied to me. What did you think would happen huh? that I would kill him? what monster do you take me for?" he yelled

"well you haven't quite behaved like a father ever since you found out your daughter is pregnant so we had no choice" she said yelling herself "you forced us to lie to you. you put us in a position to lie to you!"

He raised his eyebrow "how was I supposed to react to finding out my daughter is pregnant huh? What formula was I supposed to follow huh? am I not allowed to be disappointed?" he shouted with disappointment in his voice

"Ayola is a child. She made a mistake and for us to prosecute her for one little mistake was a little too much. She's pregnant and she does not need her father going around beating up her baby daddy into a pulp" she shouted. "she did not need you hitting him. at least he is there for her which is the least I could say for you!" she said storming out

OK! what the hell just happened?

"Do you love him?" he asked looking up at me, I nodded "speak Ayola"

I cleared my throat "yes dad I do" he nodded

He sighed "call him. I know he's not far from here"

Normally I'd ask how he knew that he was parked two houses away from my home but then again Lwando was my father's second in command so ofcause he knew him that well. I took a deep breath before texting him to come over. Within minutes he was parked outside, Mamu'Gloria led him to the dinning room and brought him a bowl, he sat next to me

"Mr Majola" he greeted

"I really did a number on you huh?" he said with a chuckle

Lwando chuckled too "yeah you did hey, you are getting old thou"
