chapter fifteen,
fine, great!

.:∞* RUNNING AN ENTIRE store by yourself isn't light work. That's one thing Ryan learned the hard way, especially after over eight months of blood, sweat and tears that she put into the store. The name, Ryan's Records, seemed bland now that she thought of it, and if it were her choice she would strap herself into the time machine and go back and change it. But, the name was set in stone, with the expensive sign and it's growing popularity. Not to mention, she had better things to worry about.

Not better, but a lot more important.

The last snow storm that rattled Washington DC left a huge mark on her beloved shop; the roof was leaky, causing her to have to shut down for two entire days to move shelves before she could get it fixed. Every roofer in the metropolitan area seemed to be booked for the next month, so it was no such luck, unless she trusted herself and Hanna to take a road trip to Lowes and fix the leak herself.

Ryan expressed her frustration to Spencer over a nice lunch at a little restaurant down the street. He had banged on the glass for two minutes before he caught her attention, not knowing the doors had been locked due to the slight predicament, and when she finally came to see who was banging, she was covered in sweat and/or water from the literal hole in the ceiling.

"I don't know what I'm going to do! Our normal maintenance guy is out on leave, every roofer in DC is booked because of the storm... I'm fucked!" Ryan exclaims the last part a little too loudly, causing some old ladies to glance their way. "I'm losing more and more revenue every day that this stupid ass leak isn't fixed!"

"Hey, I can help," Spencer assures her, covering her hand with his on top of the table. Two plates, their food and drinks separating them, and he can still feel the anger and frustration radiating from her skin.

"I'm not taking your money," she says sourly, tilting her head and giving him the death glare that she only gives him every once in a blue moon.

Spencer rolls his eyes, "I'm not saying that! I know a guy."

"You... know a guy?"

"Yes, I know a guy. So let me give my guy a call, and I'll have your roof fixed by tonight. Stop worrying your pretty little head."

Just a few months ago, the man standing outside was shy and introverted around her. The attempts at flirting made him blush, and when she saw him in that bar it was almost fate. Flash forward to now, and they're sitting in the middle of the middle of a diner and he's on the phone with his roof guy and is helping her fix her problems, once again.

"Lets go, my guys on the way," he says, grabbing the bill from the edge of the table and tucking a twenty dollar bill under the ketchup bottle, before grabbing her hand.
